2002 Kia Sedona EX review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I purchased a used Kia Sedona with 35000 km on it and the balance of the five-year Canadian warranty. This van is good value for the money and the KIA dealership has been extremely helpful in clearing up some small warranty problems.
There is a design problem that everyone should know about with this van.
If you open the driver's side door with a key and leave all the other doors locked, this is what can happen, as it did to me.
I pulled up to an intersection to put up some signs for a garage sale and put on the 4-way warning flashers while the van was still running and in park. I got out to go around to the rear door to take out my garage sale signs only to discover the door was locked. So back I go to the driver's door to unlock the doors only to realize it also was locked along with all the doors. Now I'm locked out of the van with the engine running and in an intersection blocking traffic.
What happened was when I opened the driver's door, I moved the locking lever to the lock position without knowing it. This seems to be a design problem as by putting your hand on the door lever to open the door you can push the locking lever to the locking position with the back of your hand without knowing it. So beware
