1999 Renault Laguna RT Sport review from UK and Ireland
"Puts more executive, expensive, larger engined cars to shame"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Break fluid leaked slowly over 1 month.
General comments?
The only impression that is instilled in this car from older French cars is its charm and beautiful curves. None of the floppy suspension or subdued performance. A comfortable cruiser, composed in the city, in the country and on the wide open motorway. My Laguna is the envy of my friends, and its hard earned at the age of only 18. It was though, one of the few large cars I found it even possible to be insured on. Fuel too, is easy on the old wallet thanks to the cheap, though by no means nasty 1.6. The performance puts 1.8's to shame and satisfies even my fathers hard line 2 liter plus syndrome, even he sees this as no small time performer. Renault made a massive improvement on the pre-98 cars 8v engines when they introduced the 16v engines. The new 1.6 with it's 110bhp is statistically significantly faster than the previous 95bhp 1.8. Possibly with my little experience in motoring I'm easily pleased, but my Laguna is my pride and joy and isn't leaving my driveway for a long time to come.
