2001 Volkswagen Passat GLX review from North America
"I loved her...& miss her so"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I went though 3 sets of rear brakes, My head lights burnt out on a 6 to 9 month basis. The lock for my glove box fell out. The service dept as well as sales dept of life Quality Volkswagen Located In Brooklyn NY was the worst experiance ever. I would buy another VW, just not from them
The one odd thing that happened that was never explained was one morning the car would not go into gear at all when running, it was a 5pd stick. It would go into gear when not running, I had it towed to the dealer. they actually forced it into gear which really aggravated me. They told me in made a horrible grinding sound, which they found funny, I however did not. The problem just seemed to correct itself. The working theory was after driving home from work in a real bad rain storm & going though some deep puddles I got somthing wet, Like a slave clynder or pressure plate and it dried out.
General comments?
I LOVED THIS CAR! The quality of the interior was so tight no squeaks or rattles every button every control felt like it was made from the highest quality.
No out side noise was present when driving even at over 125 MPH. The 5 position heated seats were awesome.
Car had more than enough power with the 6cyl and 5spd manual. Handles really great
good at the pump to I ran mostly regular fuel in her.
