1987 Mazda B2200 SE-5 review from North America

"A powerless piece of pure Japanese junk!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

EVERYTHING!

Maintenance is meticulously kept up even with this many miles, however I don't know how the previous owner kept up with it. Only use Mazda replacement parts and Valvoline 20W50 MAX LIFE OIL.

New radiator.

New clutch.

New speedometer cable.

New timing belt.

New water pump.

New oxygen sensor.

New gaskets everywhere.

Had to replace a $400 carburator TWICE, now possibly a THIRD time!

Eats up tires.

Had to replace the distributor TWICE.

Had to replace the altitude sensor.

This is the worst car or truck we have ever owned! You can not keep the thing on the street for more than a month without something going wrong.

The carburator is so sensitive it can not stay tuned.

It leaks oil so bad. It burns 20W50 worse than any car I've ever seen, yet it does not smoke much.

It has so little power and torque, factory 85 HP isn't enough to get up the hill!

Every part on the truck is expensive, and always is hard to find. You always have to worry about if it is going to throw a rod, because you know it uses so much oil.

I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE OF THESE! Although since the Mazda B-Series are virtually Ford Rangers, which I've had much luck with, I may consider buying one.

General comments?

Worst truck we have ever owned. It could be nice and fairly easy to restore, but what's the use, it's a bare bones truck with no power steering, no cassette player and little power and towing ability. I hope we get as many miles out of it as the ones on the other reviews.
