1989 Honda Prelude Si

Summary:

This is an amazing car

Faults:

Cracked radiator right after I bought it.

Had to rebuild transmission (kind of my fault though) at around 80000 miles.

4 new tires at 82000 miles.

If you get an oil change regularly, you should have no problem with this car.

General Comments:

This is an amazing car for me. My first car was a hand-me-down GMC Suburban. I bought this car off my aunt. She lived in Chicago so the car was barely driven. I love this car though.

I say the transmission was my fault because I was stuck in the snow delivering pizzas (wonderful car for that) and I had to keep moving the transmission from drive to reverse all the time, and after that it had to be fixed.

1989 Honda Prelude Si 2.0L DOHC

Summary:

Seriously fun for very cheap

Faults:

When I bought the car it had 2 small rust spots in the rear quarter panels by the wheel wells.

General Comments:

I love this car. Despite that age (16 yrs old) the car drives like it is brand new. Comes with lots of options; such as power windows, sunroof, tilt steering, fog-lights, and air conditioning. Its also pretty fast, just have to get it up above 3000 RPMs. If you are thinking about buying one, do it. you will not regret it for a second.

1989 Honda Prelude Si 2.0

Summary:

Originality, Performance, Sharpness

Faults:

By the way, I love this car...it's my first and I am totally blown away. I had to change CV shafts at 142k and some electronical stuff. The seats have started to wear a little bit, but that's about it for this 16 year old car.

General Comments:

Well, I was just wandering how do I know if it's 4ws? It's great at handling, but I don't know. I don't have the manual because I bought it from some dude. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, just turn your steering wheel all the way left or right, and get out and look at the rear wheel stance. They should be slightly turned inward or outward... good luck..

Summary:

This car rides the best everyday

Faults:

Hi, I like this car very much. I had this car in 1996, and it broke down in 2002. Then is just sat in the drive way until now. So far I had to fix the alternator, cat, O2 sensors. and that is pretty much all and I am trying to work on getting performance shocks. Yeah the shocks squeak.

General Comments:

This car is a quick car. This summer I am going to see how fast it can get up to 60mph. Yeah I have a very had time finding taillights and other parts. I heard that you can get some rotors that attach to your old ones and it is like a extension. If you know where to get them can please e-mail me at german88@sbcglobal.net yeah this is my first car too. Can someone e-mail me so I know where to find tail lights.

Depending on the car's running condition, the 5 speed would clock on about 8.5, the automatic would be 1-2 seconds slower.

1989 Honda Prelude 2.0 Si

Summary:

Fun, Reliable, Great, I'd highly recommend for a first car

Faults:

When I first got the car last May, it had lots of things wrong with it. I had to replace my starter, my clutch, and all four brakes. Cost me a couple grand, but it ran really good. A month or two later my lower radiator hose went out and I had developed a power steering leak. Not anything real bad as to I've read about this happening to Preludes of that year. After I fixed the power steering line, I got a new oil pan (was leaking pretty bad) and since then the only thing that needs work is the suspension. I plan on dropping in a J-Spec B20a in the next month or so hopefully that will give me a fresh start with a new engine.

General Comments:

One thing I noticed right off the back was this car has quite a bit of power. Not your F&F fast, but comfortable fast. I've pushed it to red-line a few times and felt like it was quick enough for me. It is quite a weird feeling still, driving this yellow Prelude with power windows, door locks, sunroof, etc. instead of my old Toyota Celica.
