2000 Jaguar S-Type 3.0

Faults:

Well the transmission started to jerk a few days after we got the car. I was told there was no fixing the problem, that it was an ongoing problem that Jaguar knew about. Have to upgrade the transmission and that would cost about 4000.00 dollars.

I also discovered that the cooling system is leaking - found spot in driveway and investigated it. I thought this was the car of my dreams, but now I am regretting buying it.

General Comments:

Do not get me wrong, everyone who has seen the car thought it was the best thing that they have ever seen... If they only knew.

Well, what can I say the car is beautiful. However, mysteriously enough our S-type also jerks. We have tuned it up and serviced everything that the repair shop can think of to the tune of $1500. And still the problem exists. People are afraid to ride with us because they think the car will break down. How embarrassing to have a luxury car that no one will ride in.

Your car has a vacuum leak in between the lower intake and the motor. There's a hose that deteriorates and leaks. Expect to pay $1000. Sorry you already paid for a tune-up, most of that work will have to be redone.

2000 Jaguar S-Type 4.0

Summary:

This nightmare won't end, hate this car!

Faults:

Front end falling apart.

Cooling system leaks a lot.

Poor heat, tends to run cooler.

Sunroof doesn't work at all.

DSC system failure.

Just about every light on in dash & changes daily.

Poor gas mileage; no terrible 6mpg!

Not a smooth running car, can feel bumps in the road.

Some days it just won't start; others it will.

Parts are extremly overpriced, paying for jag quality and getting FORD parts. $9.00 per lug nut.

So much more, too many problems to list them all.

General Comments:

There has not been a single day since I've purchased this car that I have not regretted it. The first couple months of ownership were almost entirely spent at the repair garage. I've spent thousands to fix a problem that exists to this day. Just cannot wait for the day to see it gone. Not to mention how much the value dropped since purchase.

To be honest, if I was in this situation, I would take the car back to the dealer and voice my extreme dissatisfaction.

Besides, I would never buy or own any Jaguar. They are rubbish.

Although owned by Ford, and a credit to Ford for trying to turn Jaguar around, Jaguar are in fact costing Ford masses of money. It could be a situation of BMW and Rover a few years ago. BMW bought Rover, with the intent of making Rover a success, but to no avail and therefore had to sell it back.

Ah and look, Rover went bust. What a shame. Not.

Summary:

This car is very stylish and fun to drive

Faults:

The pop out tray in the dash will not close.

General Comments:

This car is great. I am a Lexus salesperson, but I figured I would get something different. There is a very special feeling when you pull up in a Jag as opposed to doing so in a Lexus.

Although my Lex is great, it isn't the head-turner the S-Type is. The engine is awesome - nothing sounds like a Jag V8. The car handles well and feel very luxurious.
