2000 Jaguar S-Type 3.0

Faults:

I have a 2000 Jaguar S Type. I have had trouble getting it out of park when parking on a hill, and just like everyone else one of my window regulators went out.

Just today the fail safe engine light came on. The car still runs fine and shifts fine. The temperature is fine and the check engine light is not on. I wonder if I continue to drive it the way it is, if it will cause more problems.

2000 Jaguar S-Type Sport 4.0

Summary:

Beautiful, but too many mechanical defects

Faults:

ALL 4 window regulators failed; 1st at 17000 miles, next at 18000, next at 19000, last at 21000.

Coolant overflow tank cranked at 16000 miles.

Ashtray closure has broken twice.

Dash sliding storage compartment won't open.

Driver's seat is badly cracked and worn.

Chrome wheels corroded and rusted after 2 years.

2 batteries replaced, 1 under warranty.

General Comments:

I have been misled, lied to and denied any satisfaction from either Jaguar USA or the local dealership. I will never buy another Jaguar or take my car which has only 21000 miles to a Jaguar dealership. If I had the energy or know how, I would take them to court. They count on owners not having the time or expertise to sue them. A class action lawsuit should be filed against them.

It is a great looking car, sapphire blue with 17" chrome sport wheels.

Oh yea! My 2000 Jaguar S-type is a lemon! I have replaced the front window regulators and the alternator. Now, my fuel system is not working properly and the transmission is acting up. I have had the car for a year and bought it with only 60,000 miles. I have easily put in over $2000 and I don't even drive because every time I do, something goes wrong.

2000 Jaguar S-Type

Summary:

Appearances can be deceiving

Faults:

The transmission is failing for no apparent reason.

General Comments:

The car rides smoothly, except when shifting.

The transmission has always been sticky, and now at a little over 87,000 miles I'm needing to replace it, and I think that is absurd.

The worst part is that every mechanic I've talked to, only give me the reply that they're crap cars and that this is a chronic problem with Jaguars. It kills me to pay half the car's value to fix it.

2000 Jaguar S-Type

Summary:

I like it and enjoy driving it

Faults:

I too have had the problem with it getting stuck in park on an incline... several times to be exact, fortunately my ex-husband knew a few things about cars and told me how to correct it.

I have also had transmission trouble; I have to drive with my car in 3rd all the time or it won't move.

Lately I have noticed that if I am at a stoplight, the car will idle really low and die, so I have to keep my foot on the brake and the gas and give it gas if it starts to die.

It has 104,000 miles on it and I bought it in 2006, it had 79,000 when I bought it. As soon as I drove it home from the dealers, the check engine light came on and had to take it to the dealers, which was an hour and a half drive from me, while they fixed it. It ended up being the catalytic converter, thank goodness the dealer had to pay for that not me.

I do get lots of compliments on the car and I love it... I guess cars are like humans... we aren't all perfect, neither are cars.

2000 Jaguar S-Type 5.0

Summary:

I doubt very seriously that I would buy another Jag

Faults:

Drives side window regulator.

Overflow reservoir tank had to be replaced.

Interior cloth near windshield beginning to come apart.

Gearbox default indicator came one.

General Comments:

I am astonished that I have experienced many of the same problems as the others that have posted on this site.

The car kept overheating and I had to have the overflow reservoir tank replaced.

I was at toll booth and the window would not come up after letting it down.

Most recently the gearbox fault indicator came on, however once I stopped and restarted the car it went off, but lo and behold, 3 days later it has come on again.
