1995 Acura Integra RS review from North America
"Most reliable used car on the market"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have kept regular maintenance, changing oil to Mobil 1 every 3-5 thousand miles. Aside from that, nothing unexpected/out-of-the-ordinary has gone wrong.
Sunroof never functioned. Knew that when I bought it. It leaked, which I've heard is very common. Some silicon sealant around the outside fixed that problem.
At around 125,000, the master cylinder started to go out. Brakes got squishy, took it in, had it replaced, no more problems.
I recently had to replace my rear brakes, and the fronts are in the near future. But come on... the car has 145k miles, and I have no idea how old the brakes were when I got it with 110k on it already.
At about 140,000, some rust started to spread around the driver's side rear wheel well. Nothing a dremel and some bondo can't fix.
General comments?
I know I've spoiled myself for the rest of my life with this car. I bought it for $3,200 with 110,000 miles, and it has treated me better than I would have expected any brand new car would off the lot ever would. It handles like a dream, it gets great gas mileage (I've averaged 26mpg, combining city and highway over the last 3 years), and it starts up every single time.
I had one failure to start in the dead of winter, and that's because, yet again, it had the original battery from when I purchased it, which was god knows how old. And honestly, to this day I haven't given it a proper tune up, because it starts up the first time, every time. As soon as I get a hiccup, I'll add new wires and plugs to it.
When I bought this car, I expected it to fall apart immediately and have to replace everything on it. To my amazement, only a couple things have actually clunked out (master cylinder, rear brakes), and I was happy to replace them.
