2000 Cadillac Seville SLS V8 from North America

Summary:

Horrible

Faults:

Everything is wrong with the car.

The car shuts off all the time.

I keep dropping money into it, and it still keeps breaking down.

New tires.

Catalytic converter - 2 in 1 week.

Coil packs.

Brakes that still slide.

Wiring.

Too many things to go over them all.

Everything you can think of it has been fixed. At least 800 to 1500.

The gas gauge is broken.

Auto shops cheat you constantly, and don't fix the problem.

Sensors always break.

Air modulator.

General Comments:

The car is comfortable, but it does not matter when it breaks down all the time after you have had it fixed over and over, and it is always something else.

I am tired of this big piece of crap taking all my money, and people cheating me for money to fix what no one seems to be able to fix.

The engine is nice and the car moves quick, but it takes 15 minutes to heat up or else it won't drive.

It takes up a lot of gas, but I don't mind that.

It takes up a lot of oil. It just disappears. No stains on the ground. It sounds like it is going to blow up, but no one seems to find anything.

I take care of this car, and it does not seem to matter.

You will love this car, if you like taking money and burning it for nothing.

2000 Cadillac Seville SLS 4.6 Northstar from North America

Summary:

OK

Faults:

So far nothing has gone wrong with the car, and it has been running great.

General Comments:

It handles good and is fast for how big and heavy the car is.

It gets half decent gas mileage; it gets 21 in town and about 27 on the highway.

The car gets the little shake to it from about 68-75, but then goes away at faster speeds, don't know why.

That's the only complaint about car so far, I will make another report in a few months.

I own a Cadillac Seville STS, and it really is the money pit everyone speaks of. I will strike up a conversation with someone, only to find they have owned one previously, only to get rid of it as soon as possible. It does not matter how much money you put into it; as soon as one problem is fixed, there is another one right around the corner. If you want a car with lower repair costs, this is not the car for you.

Just in the last 10 months I have put over $4000 in this car - a new stabilizer bar, inner and outer tie rod ends, new front bearings, new radiator and hoses, new brake pads, rotors and tires, which is normal maintenance of course.

The transmission began slipping recently, and was found to be 5 quarts low on tranny fluid. Now the power steering fluid is leaking and the car is squealing. The tabs on the headlights break, I have had to replace them twice, and those are not cheap. If you find a decent price on a used one, you will find it was once broken and repaired, hence why the price is decent.

There have been many other issues too numerous to remember. It's a beautiful car and a good ride, but truly is a MONEY PIT!

2000 Cadillac Seville SLS Northstar V8 from North America

Summary:

Wouldn't own another unless it was a gift, then would sell it before warranty expires

The forever mentioned tire vibration @ 70 MPH.

Crank position & Speed Sensors replaced twice in 50k miles.

1 Qt of oil every 1,500 miles.

Broke rear seat trying to get to the battery.

Dash cover is warping.

General Comments:

Good acceleration for a larger car.

Highway MPG is 27 - 28.

Nice leather.

2000 Cadillac Seville STS Northstar from North America

Summary:

Never touch one; it's a deal with the devil

Faults:

Front struts, starter motor, air pump (s), power steering line, passenger window, trunk leak, sunroof leak, Bose system, intake plenum tear and other rough idle issues, wheel well rust, TCC solenoid.

General Comments:

Fast car, comfortable on long road trips, plenty of get up in the rear wheels off the line, but, extremely poor build quality. I cannot believe that this car cost nearly $48K when it came out, what a joke. When I pulled off the dashboard to unplug the burned out Bose center speaker, there was cotton ATHLETIC TAPE, from the FACTORY, wrapped around a screw mount to hold it in place on the passenger side.

Constant pricey repair bills. Total disappointment besides how "pimp" the car looks and feels rolling along. All owners of these cars will eventually become victims.

You think those MINOR items are bad, wait til the headbolts pull out of the block. The Northstar V8 is one of the fastest, best sounding, smoothest engines on the PLANET... with one of the WORST design deficiencies to go with it. Headgasket/headbolt failure in FWD car with LIMITED space is a recipe for disaster, and ALL Northstars except for POSSIBLY the RWD version (the cooling system was redesigned) will eventually experience the problem. Then the motor has to be REMOVED from the car and all the bolt holes have to be drilled, the cost is between 2500-4500.00 depending on who does it, and who is WILLING to touch it. The best way to avoid this problem is to CHANGE YOUR COOLANT ON TIME, EVERY TIME the owners manual recommends it!

I've had several Sevilles and while they are gorgeous to look at, it is indeed, a deal with the devil.

How can you judge a car when you don't even know where the drive wheels are. The Seville is a FWD (front wheel drive) not rear. I have an 02; never had a problem. Thanks.
