1988 Chevrolet Beretta GT SCO 2.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great performance, for a high cost!!

Faults:

Everything has gone wrong. I have not even owned the car for a year yet and I have had to replace the alternator, battery, all the brakes and front rotors, rear brake cylinders.

I just had the head gasket replaced too.

New radiator and all the hoses. Water pump.

I am sure the list will continue...

General Comments:

I really like this car.

It is super fast, but it cannot stand anything.

Everything breaks, but my car can beat most stock cars on the road. So if you want a fast car then it is good, but be ready to dump a lot of money into it.

I had a 1988 Beretta GT as my last car, it wasn't as fast, but it was more reliable.

Other than engine problems, the car is really good in every other aspect.

The body style with ground skirts gives a really mean look, the engine screams are music to my ears and it is comfortable.

1988 Chevrolet Beretta 2.0 from North America

Summary:

I loved this car!!!

Faults:

When I first got the car, the hood bent when it was up. Slowly this caused the latch to not hook correctly. One day on the way to get a new hood for it, the latch snapped and the hood blew up and smashed the windshield!

The radiator fan didn't work so that was a big annoyance.

General Comments:

This car had so much pep and handled corners like a dream!

I loved the steering, it wasn't too loose or to tight.

The transmission was awesome. It had a transaxle so it sort of acted like a manual transmission so it was so much fun.

The only problem was that I am kind of short and the seats were low and the steering wheel didn't adjust. I had to sit up very far to see out of the windshield.

1988 Chevrolet Beretta base V6 2.8L V6 5 speed from North America

Summary:

Not bad bargain

Faults:

Head gasket began to leak at 120,000 km.

Body rusted badly around the wheels.

Rear window leaked badly.

Speakers were badly damaged from rain damage.

Wheel fell off on busy street resulting in serious brake damage, and front end work.

General Comments:

Although the car was problematic is was still an excellent car, I would buy another one if it were newer.

I think the majority of the problems resulted from age and the fact it was the 1st year produced.

Untouchable power.

1988 Chevrolet Beretta 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Reliable, inexpensive, sharp looking car!

Faults:

I am the second owner of the car. The previous owner told me the car has been rear-ended, broken into, had the engine rebuilt three times, along with other general maintenance.

I have had to replace the steering column three times in three years.

The water pump has been replaced twice.

The battery has been replaced once (due to the powerful stereo equipment I had running off of it).

The exhaust has been replaced from front to back twice.

The brakes and brake lines have been replaced four times.

The interior is not great and there is major rust starting on the car, but anything is better than a K-Car when you are 21 and want to look cool!

The car has been broken into once since I have had it (the powerful stereo is now replaced with a more powerful one)!

General Comments:

Even though the car cost me a fair amount of money, I didn't pay a lot for it and it never broke down on me in the three years I owned it.

The car handles well even though after thirteen years on the road it was starting to lose power up hill and such.

Nice looking sports car that I did up and paid the price by getting it broke into.

Very spacious for a two door car.

I would buy another one tomorrow if I could find the right color! (white)
