1994 Chevrolet Blazer S-10 4.3 from North America

Summary:

Bad car on gas good shape

Faults:

I have read every review and my 1994 Chevy Blazer has had the same problems and I have only had it for two months. When I first got it, it wasn't running great so I took it to Checker and had them get me the codes and it came out to be the EGR valve so I replaced it for 200 dollars. That didn't help at all. I took it to get a diagnostic on the blazer and it said that my spider injectors are bad and it is going to cost 700 dollars to fix. I like the car in all, but there are also little things wrong with it too like the front passenger window doesn't work (the motor is bad),the rear difroster doesn't work. Mainly it doesn't have the power it should have and I get horrible gas mileage. I haven't got the spider injectors replaced yet I am saving up for it, but after reading all the other reviews I think I made a mistake, but it is a good car.

General Comments:

The body is very nice. I like how it rides.

Have a 1994 S-10 blazer with 148000. I have replaced fuel pump and filter, radiator and had EGR valve problems. They make a screen for in front of the EGR valve, which helped me.

The injector is my current problem; 279.00 for the kit plus gasket, plus 100.00 in labor. Check around, this is a common problem that most mechanics deal with.

I like mine, it has been good, but nickel and dime stuff gets old.

Summary:

For a true TRUCK lover!!!

Faults:

For as old as she is she's a great truck. I have had the EGR (?) valve replaced once and it has a knock on the engine when it's below -30 otherwise it's a great truck. It's rusted and has more dents than any other vehicle I have seen, but It's been worth the 1300.00 I paid for her 1.5 years ago. I will always be a Blazer fan and will miss her when the engine goes..

1994 Chevrolet Blazer K5 5.7L V8 from North America

Summary:

Strong workhorse with power and size to spare

Faults:

These issues were present when I got the truck at 168K miles:

- The driver door armrest was broken in half (since replaced).

- The driver's seat frame had broken at one of the bolts, causing the whole seat to lean back (since jerry-rigged and taken care of).

- The tailgate handle detached from the interior mechanism (reattached using baling wire)

- Exhaust pipe was broken and rattled against the body...replaced.

- The engine has a small oil leak... probably rear main seal.

- Water pump failed a couple weeks ago.

- Rear differential pinion seal has a small leak.

- Power steering pump makes nonstop groaning noises.

- A/C compressor clutch bearings are loud and rattle when the clutch is turned.

- A/C functions, but doesn't blow cold.

General Comments:

This truck is a work of art. It's got tons of power, lots of room, and handles great for its size. The relatively short wheelbase makes it a lot easier to maneuver than most full-size SUVs.

Gas mileage was REALLY bad at first (11 city/14 hwy), but I corrected the ignition timing and it's now something like 14/17.

It's one of the most solid vehicles I've ever driven. I haven't towed anything yet, but I have no doubt it can haul anything up to and including a fair-size car.

1994 Chevrolet Blazer e.g. 5.7 V.8 from North America

Summary:

I love my truck!

Faults:

I have been having the same problem with my Blazer the EGR valve. I have replaced it and for now it is working fine. I have also replaced the following things since I bought it about 3 months ago: Air Idle control value, CV joint on the passenger side.

My main problem at this time is that the 4x4 was working before I replaced the CV joint on the passenger side and now it does not want to work. The transfer case is working and so is the drive shaft, but the front wheels don't turn. Can anyone help me or give me a hit to what is going wrong. Please e-mail me at royalslimmer@netzero.net.
