1996 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe 3.8 from North America

Summary:

I wouldn't recommend the 6 cylinder version to anyone.

Faults:

Mass Airflow sensor went bad at 63,000 miles.

Exhaust gas recirculation valve went bad at 64,000 miles.

Spark plugs and wires require replacing every 3,000 miles along with the oil.

Alternator went out at 100,000 miles.

Radiator, hoses and water pump, all had to be changed at 110,000 miles.

Clutch and transmission had to be changed out at 117,000 miles.

Coil pack went out at 125,000 miles.

Still can't get it to run correctly. Constantly misfires, backfires, stutters, stumbles, and sucks gas.

General Comments:

Car has good styling cues inside and out.

There are too many mechanical problems.

The mechanical problems you listed are pretty common of any car with over 100 thousand miles. Things like the alternator and fuel pump eventually go out and have to be replaced. Same with the EGR valve and radiator hoses. Best thing to do in a high mileage car is to replace things like those before they go out on you.

Summary:

Mullet's JOY

Faults:

Wiring harness burned up.

Heater core, brakes, tires..etc.

Vibration at 65 mph. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong. Traded it in on a new Mustang.

General Comments:

Car looked good at first sight. Now embarrassing to be seen in it.

Typical crap GM quality all the way around.

Cheesy headlights and side mirrors.

Cheap interior plastic. Gets warped and looses shape easy. Engine sounds bassy and muffled. Belongs in a Suburban pulling a boat. Pulls strong at low, but starts looses steam at high.

Clunky trans. Horrible ride. Back hurts after 30 minutes in car.

Handles like a truck.

Verdict: The modern day mullet's ride, just crank up the ACDC.

I really like this car, it's so powerful. Do you think $8000 is a good price to sell my car for a 40,000 mileage?

I have owned a 1996 Z28 since new. This is an awesome car. 6-speed LT1 engine is perfect for this car. I have replace the water pump and radiator. That's it. Runs like the day I bought it. Get the T-Roofs if you are going to buy one.

Summary:

The best all-around fast car ever!!!

General Comments:

The best new car you can buy today, period.

Only test drove it but wish I coulda bought it...

Comfort is excellent. The power steering is PERFECT - better than any car you will likely ever drive. Brakes and handling seemed to be excellent. Has the torque of a locomotive.

Wasn't exactly quick off the line, but mainly due to way-tall gearing in the rear (probably 2.76, needs 3.42s).

Beats the 3rd-gen Camaro in every aspect except looks, IMO.

If you can deal with the weird looks and have the $$$, GET ONE!!!
