1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS 3.0 from North America

Summary:

Great car with passenger issues

Faults:

Needed standard tune up at 90,000.

The passenger window will not roll up from the driver side, but will roll down.

The auto locks don't work on the passenger side.

A/C went out.

General Comments:

This car has shown great quality.

I love the MPG.

Driving it 500 miles and still have a little under a quarter of a tank was a pleaser.

It is peppy when it needs to be, Just needs a little R&R because it is getting to be nine years old.

I would defiantly buy another one if this one finally gives in, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 not sure from North America

Summary:

Worst car ever made

Faults:

The week that I bought the car, the fuel injectors blew, then the water pump, then more fuel injectors, then the alternator, then the power windows, then the fuel injectors again! Then the transmission, now I am not sure what is wrong with it, the low coolant light keeps coming on and going off, the service engine light comes and goes, and half of my dash lights do not work, we checked the fuse, and that is not the problem. also my left turn signal will not work, the moon roof won't open and the windows never stay on track. the power seats are starting to not work, the blower on the heater makes strange noises, and the blind spots in the rear make it hard to see behind me.

General Comments:

I was raised in a Chevy family, but after seeing what this car put me through and that Chevrolet was not helping me with it, my family bought a Ford, and I will never buy Chevy again. Sad to say.

1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 V6 gasoline from North America

Summary:

Good performance and comfort for the price

Faults:

At 68,000 miles I started to have a problem where the car kept stalling and pinging. This turned out to be a fuel system flush and spark plug wires. These are very expensive to fix due to the mechanic having to remove the air intake manifold. The brakes wore very unevenly and had to be replaced. Service engine light comes on quite frequently.

General Comments:

The interior is very comfortable and spacious. The car is very quick and usually reliable. Besides the few problems I had it is a good car. Great car to take to work and on the highway.

This comment is from an auto repair professional: You always hear the crying from those who run there cars in the ground and expect them to last forever without performing any required maintenance when needed. I bet you followed the manufacturers scheduled servicing, you know, that little book that comes in the glove box of new cars? There included so the owner can know when to service the coolant system to clean out old anti-freeze to prevent sludge build up which leads to improper cooling, and other various servicing. You said you had a problem with lower intake gasket? You're not alone there pal, it is a poor gasket to start with, but fixing it correctly once and you won't have that problem again. This advise is not only for the Monte Carlo, but for all makes and models, service them and you will get more use and pleasure out of your car.
