1992 Citroen AX GTi 1.4 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

An excellent little pocket rocket!!

Faults:

1.) Started recently to leak in drivers foot well through heater system somewhere.

2.) Gearbox just starting to whir due to original gearbox.

3.) Front suspension replacement needed for performance shock absorbers.

4.) Electrical drain somewhere when using indicators, Headlights etc.

General Comments:

1992 Citroen AX GT 1.4 Twin Solex Carbs from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Quick, sporty, good looking car!

Faults:

Only a few traumas.

Carb went way out of tune, poor running problem just before twin choke kicks in. Rolling road cured, but still needs new distributor.

Windscreen washer jets don't function.

Stage 3 on the heater doesn't work.

Clunky gearing.

General Comments:

Great car generally. Absolutely love AX GTs. This is my second 1. These are my current modifications:

15" Raceline alloys on 45 profile tyres

Full Colourcoded smoothed bodykit

Peco Big Bore 2 back box

Cobra Bucket seats with 3 point harnesses

Lots of ICE

Pipercross Air filter with larger jets

Simoni Racing Steering wheel

Momo Chrome gearknob.

It really does look and go very well indeed. Impressive acceleration, top end is a little disappointing, but still you can't have everything.

Overall great car!!

1992 Citroen AX GTi from Bahamas

Summary:

A class of its own in every aspect!

Faults:

The car, despite its name for being just a bit unreliable, has never required anything more than scheduled servicing, except for a minor problem with a tiny hole in its refrigerator which was so easy to repair.

General Comments:

Its handling is superb, and its engine strong, fast and reliable. In its age, it was the best in its class, and that means too much.

It can also protect its passengers quite well for its size and age. I had the misfortune of a serious crash recently, when a Jeep rammed my car on the passenger's side with about 80 kilometers per hour, as the police said, and I was left with a broken right ankle and a great deal of pain for about two months until my foot cast came off just yesterday. I cannot walk properly yet, but this small sized car offered the best protection it could to me. The insurance totaled it out as expected. Thankfully, there was no passenger on the right though... Anyway now I am thinking of buying a new car, much larger and safer, probably the new Mercedes E Class or the BMW new 5 series. We all have to be careful when driving, since the red light the other driver crossed while speaking on his mobile phone could have cost a human life, and if I was more careful and had I cast a glimpse to his side, I could have avoided all this suffering for both me and the other driver.

Lovely except you don't talk about the car much, just your accident...

1992 Citroen AX 1.1i from Denmark

Summary:

My best friend when it rains!

Faults:

I've had a lot of problems with the brake disks, but after having them changed a few times they are now working perfectly.

Right and left "front-arm" changed (the one who holds the front wheels).

The generator was changed at approx. 95000 km.

General Comments:

It may not be the most fancy or high-tech car in the world, but it runs smoothly and I haven't faced any major problems that couldn't be found in any other car at the age of 11!

And it has absolutely NO corrosion apart from small cracks and bumps here and there.

I believe that it is a good and rather swift little car, and it brings me safe and sound from A to B.

I have an AX and would love to put a body kit in it, amongst other customisable parts, however I just bought it 6 months ago, and it's already 12 years old. Only 70,000 miles on it though. My problem is that I haven't got a clue how long it will last.

I have a k-reg ax debut my first car and had nothing, but hassle with it the last 6 months, the biggest job was the matrix heater had to be replaced. I'm busy getting her modified its half way to been finished just the low profile front bumper to go on and then re-sprayed! I just hope she doesn't end up on the scrap heap before then!!
