1992 Dodge Dakota LE 318 V8 from North America

Summary:

A high performance truck with low performance paint!

Faults:

I have put two radiators in the truck since I have owned it. The most recent radiator is all metal, which will hopefully last much longer.

The paint (blue) has peeled in many places. From what I gather, this seems to be a common problem with Dodge products from the late 1980's and early 1990's. Otherwise, the truck has been great!

General Comments:

Again, the paint is my biggest complaint. I have been pleased with the performance of the truck and it has never let me down. It's great for hauling yard products and for driving every day. It is pretty comfortable, too.

1992 Dodge Dakota LE 4X4 Extended Cab 3.9 V6 from North America

Summary:

A good dependable light/medium duty truck

Faults:

Rebuilt Trans at 100,000 (Mostly due to pulling loads with no oil/trans. cooler ;) )

Horn/Cruise relay always blows.

EATS front brakes.

New alternator at 80,000.

General Comments:

Overall, a great truck. Even with only a V6 it's got nice pulling power (torque.)

Gas mileage is average, but a very comfortable truck. I never expected to get over 100k with a 92 V6...she still runs like a chanp too.

1992 Dodge Dakota LE, Long Box 3.9L V6 from North America

Summary:

Great performance to weight ratio!!!

Faults:

Front rotors wore BADLY along with calipers and pads.

Exhaust went out, but was easily repaired.

Blew the connector for the upper hose of the radiator clean off the upper tank... still don't know why this happened?

Paint is worn and is peeling in places, one rust spot above passenger rear wheel well.

General Comments:

This truck had a Holley throttle body, and aftermarket exhaust installed when I got it, and it performs nicely. It handles like a sports car, yet the comfortable ride of a truck. Most parts are easy to find and are relatively inexpensive.

Fun to drive, I don't want to get rid of this truck I love it so much.

BTW- subwoofer boxes are a daunting task to find one that will fit behind the seat in my standard cab... but if you find one, you will be pleased with just about any system you put in... nice back massage.

1992 Dodge Dakota LE 5.2 litre EFI from North America

Summary:

Awsome

Faults:

I don't have a lot of complaints on my truck, but for one thing the paint peeling. Also dodge won't cover my new paint job.

General Comments:

I love my truck it is unbelievable, I bought this truck because my dad made me. I wanted a Ford Probe or other racing car, but when I purchased my truck I realized my dad was right because even thought it might look like a truck it handles and performs like a sports car.

I have installed performance exhaust k and N air system and low profile tires, I am now beating Ford Probes and Mustangs in Quarter Mile Races.

I have the same truck and acquired it at about the same mileage as you did.

Mine is the extended cab, short box model with air, cruise, tilt, pw etc etc.

Other than normal maintenance I have had no real problems with the vehicle. The person who had it prior to me had it painted so I can't say if they had the same problem with paint as you.

I have the K&N air filter on mine, but I haven't really noticed any difference in either mileage or performance. The 5.2 engine (318) is a wonderful workhorse that I recommend to anyone.

My gas mileage comes in at a pretty consistent 20-23 mpg if you keep your foot out of it and drive like a normal human being.

Glad to hear you like your truck. Keep on trucking pal.

Steve.
