2000 Dodge Dakota SLT 4X4 4.7 litre from North America

Summary:

So far so good, lets hope the dealer fixes up my little problems..... keep on trucking

Faults:

Paint on this new truck is very poor - thin on the tailgate, can see through it, a lot of chemical damage from sitting on the lot.

Headliner is damaged from improper installation.

Right front door rubber had to be replaced before delivery and same with the secondary seal on the rear back door.

Rear bumper has a ding - probably not a manufacturer fault, just sloppy dealership parking - on order and to be replaced no cost.

Transmission seems to have a lag when putting it into gear, gonna have it checked out when it goes in for the bumper.

General Comments:

Only 1000 clicks so far, already impressed by the truck, smaller engine and same power as my 98 Dakota and with 4x4 it gets same gas mileage - I like that.

I think the plant that produces these bad boys should slow down a bit and take a little care, same with the dealership, if they intend on selling a lot of these 37000 Canadian dollar trucks. Seems numbers are their main factor and quality has taken a back seat.

Truck is nice but the paint sucks, and the trim has been put on on sloppy ie. damaged headliner, front bumper crooked, some loose trim that just required an extra push to seat it...........

Love the 4 doors especially since they open so wide - very impressed and kids love all the room back there.

2000 Dodge Dakota SLT 4X2 3.9 L from North America

Faults:

Nothing so far (Knock on wood).

General Comments:

Rides very smooth and lots of interior room. I have the Club Cab, and for a single guy who loves the outdoors, this is an awesome truck, lots of room for sleeping bags, tents, winter clothes, shovels, and complete comfort for those in the front bucket seats. The center compartment is huge, and all the controls are in easy reach of the driver. The sunglasses compartment is nice, as is the power of the Magnum V6. I test drove the Ford Ranger and Chevrolet S-10 models prior to choosing the best truck for my dollar and this is it folks!

I also have a 2000. My only problem is when it hits 46mph it has a vibration and engine seems to lose some power, more so when I have weight in the box, about 350 pounds. Have you noticed this too?

I own a 2000 Dakota sport, and the only problem I have had with it is that the front rotors keep warping. I just replaced the fronts and now they are starting to grab again. Any advice?
