1999 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 from North America

Summary:

A high performance car

Faults:

Cooling fan.

Front window.

Transmission sensor.

Oxygen sensor.

Heat sensor.

Temp sensor.

Electronic command module.

General Comments:

We have had this car for 5 years and until recently it has been service free.

Our brakes have 147,000 miles on them and still do not need replaced.

A year ago the cooling fan went out and we replaced one side.

6 months ago the check engine lite came on and when I checked the oil it was empty, this was due to the front oxygen sensor going out cost to replace was about $400.00.

2 months ago the car began stalling and the check engine lite came on. The code on the computer was again the oxygen sensors, but when checked these were alright. Our mechanic then replaced the heat and temp sensors and thought the problem was corrected. Again the car stalled while driving and the mechanic replaced the electronic command module. After spending around $600.00 the problem was corrected.

Now while driving down the road the car overheated, and lights started flashing and the air conditioner is not working.

The car is also now dragging when you try to start it up

From the comments on this site, I am sure it is the AC fan, and the starter.

Due to the fact we had 140,000 miles on this car before we started having problems I would say we would buy another.

1999 Dodge Intrepid Base 2.7 from North America

Summary:

Piece of crap!

Faults:

At 67,600 miles the engine went Timing chain broke and destroyed the hole thing. $6,000 to repair and not worth any where that amount to fix even though it is a spotless car inside and out. Stay away from the 2.7 engine or you will be sorry!! I feel for anybody that has or owns one of these cars. If you have one get rid of it if you see one for sale keep looking take this from someone that has spent the last 4 months learning a very costly lesson!!

General Comments:

Great room.

Poor engine design.

To expensive to repair.

Will put you in the poor house eventually.

1999 Dodge Intrepid ES 2.7 from North America

Summary:

Piece of crap 1999 Chrysler

Faults:

Doors wouldn't power lock after 15 km/hr. had the dealership fix it 5 times on warranty, when warranty expired, had it fix at another dealership for $70 which they only fix through their computer and been working fine after paying.

The car would stall with engine light on at the same time it would stick to second gear. Dearlership charged me $589.00 for a $35 replacement part speed sensor. they broke a nut and charged me $59 which I got back because I told them I was going to sue. they told many things like oil change had to be done when in fact I had an engine flush and new oil put in. they told me my rad was leaking when it fact I had a small oil leak under the oil pan. I would nevr take this car or any car again to any Chrysler Dealership since they are very dishonest. its not just one dealership, but all of them. My next car will be either a toyota or Honda.

My brakes makes constant noise which speedy and midas brakes tell my its the manufacture design. I have one shock rear driver side that makes funny noises, and My A/C wasn't working on hot days, had the coolant replace with new type coolant. all this under 2 years having the car and under warranty except for the speed sensor and the power locks?

Now I have to get car engine flush and transmission flush every 5000km/hr from what I heard on here.

General Comments:

What an expense for a almost new car. trust me, buy an import, its the only way they will learn and pay for their mistakes. American Made??? my ass.

BUY Canadian made cars or Japanese made cars only.

America makes garbage cars, period!
