1999 Dodge Intrepid Standard 2.7 from North America

Summary:

One big problem

Faults:

My headlights have horrible fog.

The window motors have gone bad twice in three windows.

There is a lot of front end suspension problems such as my ti-rods that have gone bad.

The speed sensors have gone bad twice.

The engine burned up at 64,000 miles.

The dash cracked from the sun the first year I had The car.

The front rotors warped.

All struts are worn out.

Electrical guage problems.

The cam sensor had gone bad.

I have also noticed my gas mileage go down.

General Comments:

My personal opinion of this car is that it is horrible and I would recommend not buying one.

I lucked out when I paid extra for the extended warranty and haven't had to pay for the large repairs.

If the car ran properly, it would be nice do to the style and size of the car.

1999 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 from North America

Summary:

I love the performance and the leg room and my next car will be the same

Faults:

Speed Sensor Replaced

Seat Belt Retractors Replaced (recall)

Window Lift Replaced

Currently the Oil Pressure Light Flickers

Check Engine Light goes on when gas cap not tightened or battery disconnected within 50 engine starts.

General Comments:

Even with the high mileage the car had when we purchased the car I would have to say it has been a 95% positive experience.

All problems have been listed on the service bulletins and/or recalls and have been a quick and relatively easy fix.

The occasional problems are in no way a big enough problem to have me considering a replacement.

1999 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 from North America

Summary:

I would recommend buying an Intrepid to everyone and anyone

Faults:

I haven't had any problems with this car at all. I regularly change the oil, and do a flush and fill once a year. I had to change the wipers do to regular maintenance.

General Comments:

This is by far, the best car I have ever owned. I haven't had any problems. I trust the car to take anywhere. I have driven to Florida, from Wisconsin twice. This car runs and rides like a dream.

This car also has plenty of power. Passing is not a problem. I have had the car up to 130 mph. with a little left to go. The interior is flashy. Nice comfortable seats, easy to read dash and plenty of room.

I did not see the mileage of your car mentioned and I assume it is the 2.7 engine. If it is please be warned. I bought my 99 Intrepid new in late 98. I was 39 and it was my first new car, my fifth Dodge and cost me twice as much at inception than any car I had previously owned. To date I have spent about $8,000 out of pocket for repairs not including related expenses and the thousands spent by my extended warranty company. I have maintained the car to the standards in the owner's manual and then some. The car now has 66,281 miles on it and yesterday I had it towed to the dealership for the fourth time. Fourth time does not include the numerous times I was lucky enough to drive it in. This time the transmission got stuck in first gear and the check engine light came on. All of this 360 miles after the last time it was serviced, including the transmission which is about the only mechanical component that has not been replaced at least once. I wish you all the luck in the world.

My 2000 Dodge Intrepid is by far the worst car I have ever own. My engine blew at 72,000 while I was driving. I will never ever buy another American car. And people wonder why the auto industry is on the verge of bankruptcy.
