1992 Eagle Talon from North America

Summary:

Great car with nice power and handling!

Faults:

One of the problems I have with this car, is when at idle it jumps between 1000rpm and 3000rpm. I have changed out the vacuum lines and the mass air flow sensor; does any one know what the problem may be?

General Comments:

Great car, but really small.

Nice power and handles great.

1992 Eagle Talon TS1 2.0 turbo from North America

Summary:

High maintenance car, fun summer ride, but don't fall in love with it though

Faults:

Generally, I think this car was a mediocre investment. It is my first car, and I bought it without any problems.

As of right now, the front struts look like they may need to be replaced, and that may be 400-600.

I spent 500 on the alternator, 500 on CV joints, and 500 on ABS. Besides that, she runs OK, except over pot holes.

Please feel free to reply to this message, if anyone can relate to the front suspension trouble.

1992 Eagle Talon 2.0 non-turbo from North America

Summary:

Would suggest a Talon to anyone that wants a affordable sporty car

Faults:

Things We Replaced (doesn't mean it was broke)

-Both Outter Tie Rods

-Both Ball Joints

-Both Half Axles

-Brakes Front End (Rotors, Calipers, Pads)

-Rims (previous owner screwed us) so we jacked my dads project probe up and "borrowed" his rims/tires for a while

-Replace timing and balancing shaft belts plus all the other belts (a/c, water-pump, powersteering belts)

-Battery

-Exhaust system.

Other issues were

-Window not staying in track

-Sqeeky Alternater belt

-Grinding Gear when I put the transmission into first gear (but we fixed that by bleeding the slave cylinder)

General Comments:

This car was rather pleasing to work on and well designed. Besides all the issues we had, it was well worth it in the end. Very fast and awesome handling.

1992 Eagle Talon Tsi Awd 2.0L turbocharged from North America

Summary:

Real Deal

Faults:

I had been wanting an Eagle Talon for a few years now and finally bought one. I Bought the car at 226000k. Took the car for a test drive the day before buying it, everything worked fine. I was driving it home the next day after buying it and it wouldn't go into first or second gear. Transmission problem worth $2800. Passenger power window is slow to work. Driver seatbelt won't retract and paint under the Bra is chipped up. A few rattles here and there but what do you expect with 226,000k. Good looking car for a 1992 and for the kilometers. Bought it for $3500 and have put $3000 into just driving it home. If you can do things yourself, then do it, I spent at least half the price just for labour.

General Comments:

Amazing car, they look great and handle amazingly. Get the car inspected before purchasing it. It's worth the $100 that might save you $1000's.

1992 Eagle Talon Eagle TSi AWD 2.0 turbo (4G63) from North America

Summary:

It is not that reliable or fast and gets 14mpg

Faults:

My radiator cracked on the way home. I had to get a knew valve cover gasket because it leaked oil. It leaks something, I am not sure what. It has a burnt bitter smell kind of, I don't really now how to describe it. It has died a couple times off an idle.

General Comments:

So I started my car tonight and it started fine, not even a full turn over. I put it in reverse. I backed out of my parking spot and put it in neutral and it died. I started it again and it barely stayed running idling at about 200rpms. I gave it a little gas and it went to about 1000rpms and made a horrible screeching sound like a loose belt. I then parked and it was still idling pretty low around 400-500rpms. I started driving home and it went back to normal idle at stops, but did not run amazing. Does anyone know what the problem was? If so or if you think you might, please tell me. My email is baker1479@hotmail.com.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

You bought a 14 year old car. Did you know the maintenance history of it? A 14 year old car is going to have issues.
