2002 Fiat Stilo Dynamic 1.8 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Swift, Comfortable and very affordable!

Faults:

'Airbag failure - switch off engine' - but soon rectified by sticking my hand under the seat and playing with the wires - let's see how long it lasts especially with college mates in and out of the rear seats!

General Comments:

I own a blue Stilo 3dr Dynamic and I think it looks fantastic!

Performance is swift, not excitingly fast, but quick enough for a 17-year old I suppose!

Ride comfort is excellent at any speed.

Road noise is reasonably well suppressed although noise from the wide tires are noticeable on some road surfaces.

Seats are very supportive and pretty comfortable - got a bit of back ache on a 90 minute trip, but realised I wasn't sat square into the seat.

Fuel consumption is excellent - costs less than £15 a week for the daily 20 mile round trip to college and various other errands - which includes a brief 60+ MPH country road blast.

Cabin quality is fine - the main dashboard material is particulary nice, but the radio and door control plastics are a bit second rate. The rear light and passenger air bag switch have unclipped themselves and have no willingness to go back in!

The boot is plenty big enough for what I need it for and includes a ski hatch in the rear seats which will certainly be ideal when the winter season begins! :D.

The standard radio/CD system is fantastic - sounds twice as good when the engine isn't on for some reason.

Overall I'm very very pleased with the Stilo - I bought it for a pretty good price and for the money it's far superior inside and out to the Focus and Astra!

2002 Fiat Stilo Dynamic 1.6 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Really comfortable, nice to drive at any speed, Highly recommend one

Faults:

Front suspension noise, resolved with new struts by dealer.

Dashboard Clocks rattle. Needed tightening

ABS warning light once in a while. Switch off ignition and on again, all clears.

Boot a little smaller than you expect from a car that looks this big, but plenty of space anyway.

General Comments:

Really Comfortable, plenty of room behind drivers seat even though I'm 6ft 3in

Lots of toys for the money, more airbags than you can shake a stick at

Steering a touch light, but responsive none the less.

17" Factory Wheels make such a difference to the ride and handling.

Audio system with 5 Disc changer sounds fantastic! Had a comment asking if I had replaced my speakers with after market units - All Standard!!!

VERY good head room. Even to "Golf Plus" standards.

2002 Fiat Stilo dynamic 1.8 16v from Gibraltar

Summary:

Real head turner, but don't fall for the looks

Faults:

After one month of owning the car I noticed that it drunk as much oil as it drunk fuel. Sounded like a diesel from out side. Air Bag Failure lights were appearing for no reason and clutch was flimsy and had an odd squeal to it. The dash has gone grey from black and is really showing its age.

General Comments:

Its got extremely high top speeds as I found out in the Spanish auto ban roads when it was doing 230kph = 142 mph with three people in it and was able to get up to 193kph in 4th gear.

2002 Fiat Stilo JTD Dynamic 1.9 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Would be great if it was reliable

Faults:

Recurrent turbo waste gate valve problem.

Brake disc whistle from the back.

Hose blew off the turbo unit.

Excessive tyre wear.

General Comments:

This should be a good family car however it has many faults.

The engine is good, a lot of torque and good for motorway or around town. Fuel economy is good.

There is quite a lot of space in the cabin and a lot of nice extras (climate control, cd player etc.)

The rear seats are very hard and I wouldn't want to sit in them for long.

The reliability has been poor, with a number of problems occurring that the dealer were not able to fix.

Servicing costs have been very high.

Front tires need replacing every 10,000 miles.

The paintwork scratches very easily right down to the white primer beneath.
