Very reliable.

Absolute Workhorse. It never quits.

Comfort isn't great, but Surprisingly comfortable for a 1995 small car.

It's not very powerful, but it's quick enough with only 1 person in it.

1995 Ford Fiesta Saphire 1.3 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Good looking and comfy but electrics a bother!

Faults:

A week after I bought it the ignition barrel needed sorting out. The key would not turn round.

The alternator overcharged burning out the electrics and draining the battery totally and left me stranded! Smoke from steering wheel as result.

Again smoke from steering wheel when electrical fault appeared in wiper arms. Needed to be replaced.

Oil light flicked on and off. Garage said all of these problems were probably related to bad electrics.

Steering went just before I got rid of it!

General Comments:

This car is a lovely looking car and very comfortable and nippy but many electrical faults.

1995 Ford Fiesta LX 1.1 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A nippy bargain

Faults:

Throttle Position Sensor went shortly after purchased, not major, it has done over 85,000 miles.

Ignition Barrel wore out at 90,000 miles. Again, nothing major.

General Comments:

This car is very nice to drive, & its very simple.

Nippy for a 1.1 engine, & will certainly go some if you give it some!

Handbrake is a little stiff, horn could be better placed (I.E in the steering wheel!) & no power steering, but this doesn't stop me enjoying it.

1995 Ford Fiesta freestyle 1.3i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A bargain first car

Faults:

Power Steering Belt started to go at 50,000 miles.

Brake Cylinders weeping fluid at 51,000.

Tracking needed doing at 53,000.

General Comments:

I love this car, I bought it for £800 with 49,000 miles on the clock. Had a few spots of rust, which after a couple of days of sanding and spraying, are now gone. Starts first time every time, no matter what the temperature. No rattles or squeeks. Very comfy.

Not exactly powerful, but you get what you payfor with the fiesta, you wouldn't be able to pick up a lotus for £800!!!

I'm planning on keeping this car for years, going to go well over 100,000 miles.

1995 Ford Fiesta Azura 1.1 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A cheap an reliable little shed

Faults:

Coolant leak.

Headlight blown 3 times.

Noisy exhaust rattle that I can't seem to locate.

Cuts out when coming to a stop at low speeds.

General Comments:

This is my first car and I was looking for something cheap and reliable. The car was fine for the first few months then a few problems started appearing.

This car just eats oil, I have to put 5 liters in every couple of months, garage can't seem to find the fault.

The interior is not bad, simple and easy to use. The seats are quite comfy, but a bit restrictive, I'm 6ft 2" and my knees are at the side of the steering wheel.

The car is so noisy it is untrue, the engine sounds more like a diesel tractor than a 1.1 fiesta. Rattles can be constantly heard throughout my journeys.

The front right headlight just wont stay lit and blows bulbs constantly, can't be bothered to get it fixed though.

Ripped out the standard stereo and put in a nice Clarion head unit and some Pioneer 6x9's. Unfortunately some thief's stole my speakers out of the parcel shelf and left me with a whopping £150 bill to get a new lock and get the door fixed.

Overall a nice little car, Ok for people who have just passed. I'm buying a 1.6 306 next month so I will get a rude awakening speed wise, as the fastest I have ever got out of the Fiesta was 85mph and the steering wheel was nearly coming off.

I had one of these cars for around 2 years, and I have to say mine drank the oil, I was topping up every month! I brought the cheapest Halfords had to offer, the engine just ran and ran. The only thing that let mine down was the body work, the under sills needed welding. By then my insurance was cheaper so I got an Escort 1.6 Finesse on a T plate, a big improvement on the Fiesta's performance.
