2001 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

For people who like Driving

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car yet - I've only had it a month. When I bought it I had to have the Steering Wheel re-trimmed as the red leather had worn away, which the garage did free of charge.

The brakes were also very soft on the test drive. I mentioned this to the salesman and this seems to have been put right.

There is a fair bit of wear on the seats as well, but I suppose I'm being picky.

General Comments:

A really nice car to drive. Reminds me of my old XR2i. Its very nippy in low gears, and seems to stick to the road no matter what I throw at it.

A nice looking car with the standard Ford body kit on. The multi-spoke alloys compliment the car very well, and I got the colour I wanted (black).

Quite sporty interior although I would have liked to of seen this reasonable "Fast Ford" fitted with the recaro seats that the old XR and RS Fiesta's were blessed with.

The stereo is reasonable, although the speakers could do with being a bit more powerful. Ford probably know that these cars are going to be fitted with 6x9's and subs as they become more affordable to boy racers!!!

2001 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A nippy, sporty car that for the price is just so much fun to drive

Faults:

The brakes are a bit squeaky but isn't a big deal though.

General Comments:

Some say it is dated, but many I now think that is a much nicer nice shape and has a nicer interior than the newer fiestas.

Not the fastest car, but is very nippy and 0-60mph in 10 seconds isn't half bad. What makes up for it however is the amount of fun it is to drive, mainly due to the superb handling of the car.

Looks very sporty and will make the boy racers drewl.

A bit cramped in the back, but hey, you are not in there are you?

2001 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Superb to drive, want more power though. Hate Ford dealers

Faults:

Leather on steering wheel began wearing away. Dealer fixed this at no charge after a bit of moaning.

Whining noise when in neutral - that disappears when you push the clutch in. Dealer said this was nothing and nothing bad has happened so far with this.

After 2 years and lots of speed humps suspension bushes need replacing 220 quid ish.

Speedo has stopped working (just out of warranty) and engine management light has come on. Spoken with dealer and this is gonna cost 90 quid diagnostics + the repair charge. Had a go at Ford and they won't do anything about it until I've paid for the diagnostics, the repairs have been estimated (by a dealer friend) at approx 250 if I were to get it repaired by Ford. I'm going to a local dealer although not all have the correct equipment.

General Comments:

Very good handling, amazing round those country roads.

Nippy, but nothing extraordinary.

Interior is OK...

Cheap, good, reliable car (apart from those things mentioned!)

2001 Ford Fiesta Freestyle 5 Door 1.25 Zetec SE 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Overall a very good car for the money. Well done Ford!

Faults:

Small creak from off side front wheel area when driving hard around left hand corners, or when the off side front wheel is heavily loaded. Seems to have gone now though on its own.

General Comments:

Very good car, that has good driveability and performance for a 1.2.

The interior has the later black theme and the dashboard has the silver surrounds and looks very nice with the white dials.

The seats have a red fleck effect of which is pretty good and the drivers seat is height adjustable so the driving position can be set perfectly.

The heater is very good, (It lacks Air con, but I can live without it!)

The Radio/Cd player is perfectly adequate with 2 speakers in the back, 2 speakers in the front and tweeters mounted in the door handles.

The car has as additional to the lower specified models: Central Locking, Power Steering, Front Fog Lights, Colour Coded Wing Mirrors, Rear Spoiler and a High Level Brake Light.
