2000 Ford Mustang from North America

Summary:

A very dangerous defective car

Faults:

My head hit the steering wheel when the airbags did not deploy, going at 50 MPH. I had 18 stitches on my forehead and a haemorrhage and lost consciousness. And also the convertible came apart. A really bad car in case of an accident. Not recommended! The car was totaled.

I was the victim of an airbag during an accident. I can tell you that not having an air bag is not a bad thing. I wear glasses and when the air bag went off my glasses were pushed into my face. As a result I had two black eyes and cuts which also required stitches. Even that did not hurt as much as the head ache I had after being smashed in the face with the air bag.

So you would rather hit your face and glasses against the hard plastic of the steering wheel, than the airbag? You drove your vehicle into a solid object and smashed it to pieces, and ended up with a headache? Wow, Ford should be ashamed!

Airbags are designed to reduce injuries, not to make a 50 mph crash a pleasant experience. Maybe you geniuses should concentrate on trying not to hit things when you go out in your car each day.

50 mph?! ANYTHING will smash apart at 50 mph! Especially a coup. A ford 150 will be crushed to the glass doing 50 into an object.

2000 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 from North America

Summary:

Needs power to really compete!

Faults:

Parking brake works off and on.

General Comments:

This car does not have enough power as compared to Pontiac, and Chevy products in the same price range!

I love the looks, but looks alone, will not blow away most Firebirds? It needs power!

The Mustang is not in the same price range as the Camaro and Trans-Am. The GM cars will cost you 3k + more than a GT with same equipment (power stuff, etc...). The base priced Mustang GT includes all those niceties for a price in the low 20's. A GM SS or WS6 package will run another 3.5k, putting the GM cars in the very high 20's, low 30's (6 to 7k more). Furthermore, the Mustang runs on regular, versus premium gas for the GM cars.

Yes there are faster (and great value) cars, but for the cost minded individual like me, the GT is plenty fast. Furthermore, there seems to be a quality difference in favor of the Ford.

Yeah, Camaros and Firebirds are fast, but they are over-powered. Who needs 310 horsepower for a daily driver? I don't. GM made their cars faster, but it lacks in a fatal topic: Looks. Since the Mustang is outselling the F-bodies 3 to 1, they are sure to disappear. For the performance, the power that the F-bodies have is ridiculous since they are 1.1 liters bigger and 45 more hp. Stick to your car, since it is the best Mustang yet!

Your parking brake is on recall, All mustangs 1993-2001 have dangerous parking brakes that will slip and cause the vehicle to roll... REMEMBER ALWAYS PARK YOUR MANUAL IN GEAR... parking a manual in gear without the brake is the same thing as putting an automatic in park... it locks the axle... but just always park it in gear and get that parking brake fixed at a dealership!

The SS Camaro is in the same price range as the Mustang Cobra, not the GT. The Z28 is the car that GM built to run in the same group as the GT. And just a little reminder that the SS will smoke a Mustang Cobra, and the Z28 blows the doors off the GT.

GM built the awesome Z-28's and Trans Ams for a long time. Ford buried them with the 4, 6 and 8 cylinder Mustangs that had less power, handled worse, and many of which were just plain dog ugly... and they will bury both GM and Chrysler AGAIN. Watch and see.
