1988 Ford Mustang LX review from North America

"Gets you where you need to go"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When pressed, sometimes the accelerator pedal did not function (since ownership).

Back trunk hydarulic broken (since ownership).

Dome lights stopped going on (at 32,000 miles).

Air Conditioning broke (at 32,000 miles).

'Left your lights on' Chime doesn't work (at 32,000 miles).

Rear left speaker blown (at 38,000 miles).

Vanity Mirror lights would not go off, had to be disconnected (at 38,000 miles).

Blown Fuse for horn and cigarette lighter. New fuses blew instantly when put it (since ownership).

Radio/Cassette player did not work and was replaced (since ownership).

Driver Side Power Lock could lock, put not unlock (since ownership).

Passenger seatbelt does not tighten when brakes are applied (at 40,000 miles).

Transmission shifts very slowly (semi-truck-like) up steeper hills.

Left power window jammed at 42,000 miles.

General comments?

The car gets you where you need to go. Never had a mechanical problem with any vital parts of the car (e.g. engine, alternator, brakes, etc.).

Good gas mileage.

However, almost all of my bonus features broke, either before I got the car, or under my ownership (A/C, power windows, power locks, chimes, dome lights, etc). They individually cost too much to replace such minor details.

Terrible car for the winter. Easily loses traction due to its rear wheel drive. Easily gets stuck in snow. Fun and easy to do donuts in.

Accelerator sometimes stuck. Can be very scary when you hit the gas and nothing happens. Brakes never had a problem.

Small and cramped interior. Not very comfortable, not much headroom. No cup holders.

Paint chipped easily, rusted easily. However, this was because it was not garaged and was old.
