1988 Ford Mustang LX Hatchback review from North America

Leaking transmission fluid, replaced the gasket.

Rear Brake seal broke, got that replaced.

Muffler needed to be replaced, got that replaced, but I guess that is part of "wear and tear"

Power door lock will only lock the passenger door, but not the driver's side.

No cup holder.

No tilt wheel.

Key can be taken out of the ignition even when the gear is in D. *dangerous... I guess Ford didn't invent the lock until later, it didn't start the next day I bought it, got some friends working on it, no luck and we were going to push it into friend's yard, that's when the problem was discovered, I left the gear in D. DUH*

Air conditioner didn't work, never bother to get that fixed.

Radio was cut off, never bother to get that fixed.

Dome light comes on and off at random times, it was from the trunk.

Faded headlights *I see that on lots of older Ford's*

Other than the problems above, I loved my Mustang. It was my FIRST car and I'll never forget it. I got it for only $1,995.

I drove it to Washington, DC from Arkansas and back with no problems. Never break down on me.

Hatchback, easy to put huge things through the trunk into the rear seat, like a college sized refrigerator.

Quite fast for a 4 cylinder engine. A car was next to me was revving and my friend was like you're not going to beat him. I was like watch me. As soon as the light turned green, I zoomed, and he missed his exit. Haha. 11 years old car doesn't mean it can't do any good. It CAN!!! :-)

I miss that car and I would buy one again if I find a 88 Mustang that is well taken care of without any stupid modifications! But with 5 speed!
