Summary:

Three cylinder with an extra KICK

Faults:

I had this car for exactly 2 months before my teenage son blew the thing to pieces trying to race everything he could with this tiny engine.

Well the price to have the engine redone was astronomical.. so the car sat for a few months and a buddy of mine found me a engine for 100.00. Well, when I was putting the thing back together a few friends came by and started talking about the 87-88 Chevy/Geo Sprint that was turbo charged, well after looking for weeks on end I found one for 60.00 and with a good friends help modified it to fit the Metro.

General Comments:

Great car, I can run with the best of them and I still get great gas mileage.

I have a 95 Geo Metro LSi and the check engine light came on the other day and I don't know why... I think however it might be because I need a new EGR valve - and I have an oil leak on my distributor. Hmm...

I have been looking into souping my car up a little - you say there is an '89 turbo engine? Also my gas mileage has gone bad here recently - any ideas why?

Is it me or is this car smiling at you?

General Comments:

I can't say much about this car considering that there isn't much to begin with. I can say that it has been very reliable since I got it. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't have overdrive on the automatic transmission; so when I am on the interstate, it's screaming. Besides that, I like the little grinning thing.

Well while I had it nothing really, I think I had the A/C charged once because it was getting kind of weak.

General Comments:

Here is my general comment, I no longer have this car because I was hit in the side by a Ford Escort which ran a red light. I just wanted to say that this small car saved me in a wreck. I thought when I saw the car coming that it was over but the little thing held up well, I mean it was totalled but hey you can scratch one and the insurance company totals them. I now have a 1997 Geo Prizm LSI paid off thanks to the driver of that Ford Escort which by the way did worse in the wreck than I did.

You said it. These cars hold up very well. I've got a 95 with about 206,000 miles on it. I got rear-ended by a Mustang, he was going about 45, and it help up nicely. The Mustang had to get the whole front end replaced. You couldn't even tell we'd been hit. On top of that, the Mustang got hit too which means that we got hit twice at the same time. We got shoved into a car in front of us. That just popped the headlight out which we popped back in. Although this sounds pretty good, the frame was totally bent up. It totalled the car. So we kept it and took the salvage money to buy new seats. They got bent back cause of the force. The car still drives fine. I love that car!

I own 95 Suzuki swift which been rebuilt twice after serious crashes. First time I changed hood, bumper, rad, rad support and left fender. And of course airbags. the second time it was right wheel, fender, rad. support again and some suspension parts, and airbags blew again.

All I try to say is: this car holds front and side impact way better than other cars in its weight range between 825 to 1000 kg. Of course it's not a VOLVO, but I am pretty sure it is a safe car to drive.
