1990 Geo Tracker from North America - Comments

"This vehicle is without a doubt the best that I have ever owned"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Normal wear and tear.

After 275000 miles, a cracked head, replaced it and it's still running.

General comments?

Great 4x4, and still 25 miles per gallon, will keep it until it falls apart, it was the best 9,900 dollars I've ever spent.

To think of a 1990 with 275000 miles still running with no major engine or drive chain repairs is unreal.

I've replaced only normal wear and tear items on this vehicle, it's excellent and I will never part with it.

Hey, 275,000 miles - that is mindblowing! Two months ago I bought a 1997 Vitara 5-door here in the UK at 117,000 miles and presuming it's the same 1.6 16 valve unit no wonder it's such a superb runner as it's covered less than half the miles of yours. Elec. windows all round, elec. sunroof/mirrors/PAS etc. Only criticism - no rear rain gutter. Log onto the Suzuki Vitara entries to read my report (the only 1997 one). As one other report said: "expect little - and be surprised".

I bought my 1990 2-door hard top in Costa Rica, with 86,000 miles on it. Other than replacing the fuel pump, shocks (it's all off-road here), and dealing with some rust issues from seaside living, 2 years and 12,000 miles later I couldn't be happier with this little car. It's a dream on gas, and if it's not the most comfortable ride it's incredibly sturdy and does not shy away from any terrain. Definitely do not leave anything valuable in the car, laughably easy to break into. I will stick with this model as long as possible.
