At 88695km the Car overheated and we found oil in the radiator. Took a whole month for the Dealership to repair the faults and return the car to me.
Due to the overheating problem I had to have the engine cylinder heads removed and serviced as they had become bent, oil cooler and radiator removed and replaced.
At 94024km Oil leak in rear feed pipe. took it to the Dealer and was advised that it was not part of warranty from work previously done.
At 99000km another oil leak has developed very nervous now as have to take it back to the Dealer again will it be warranty or another "was not part of the original work"
Loved the car I when first bought it.
It is comfortable and handles the road well.
Unfortunately the car is rather expensive to repair and have not had very much luck with Dealerships repairs.
Update:
Would I buy another car from this manufacturer?
Definitely NOT.
It has been three weeks since the car went in for the second oil leak - which keeps getting put off due to time constraints. they also advised that this was also not warranty work as this time the leak is from the crankshaft. Have had it checked by an independant mechanic who advises to take it back to Dealership for repairs as the oil leak does not seem to be coming from crankshaft (he showed us where the leak seems to be coming from.)
I also wrote to Holden Ltd and sent them a copy of all the invoices and history of car since I have had it explaining the problem to them with the Oil leak/overheating problem. got a phone call from them this morning to say "sorry, but the problem is "retail related" and they cannot help"!
Must say I am very frustrated with this car. to anyone thinking of purchasing one I would advise them to think very very carefully and do more research. I just hope that the newer models are better made. but I for one will NOT be buying one to find out.
I also had a 2001 2.6 v6 Vectra that had the same sort of issues, it overheated at 45000kms when it was around 2 years old. As a result it spent 8 weeks at the Holden Dealership where it had cylinder heads, gaskets and various cooling system parts replaced.
Didn't keep the car much longer after that! - bit of a shame though as these cars are nice, powerful and comfortable in CD v6 spec.
I had owned a Vectra V6, I had heaps of problems from ingition to oil in radiator. I had probley spent around 5,000 dollars on a car that was not going to go the way that it had when I brought it. They look great, but I would not in my life time buy a car made by Holden again. My mechanic told me that I would have to replace the motor, stuff that... I might as well buy a new car with that money, so I did... and its not a holden...
I also have a Vectra JS 2.6 V6 CD Hatch, which had an oil consumption of 2.8litres every 7682km's, this was at 2004. Holden did nothing with it and now I have a vehicle that has oil in its coolant which could be cylinder heads or head gasket or something else. The problem of oil in its coolant I believe is due to Holden not acting, because Holden is meant to replace all engines whom consume more than 2.5 litres every 10000km's.
Holden are now denying everything, I am trying to find if anyone has had the same of similar problem for me to take this to the next level, legal action against Holden. I hope I can identify others whom have had this same problems.
Warning do not buy a Vectra. Cost too much repair and dealers don't want to touch them. I have sold my Vectra today as its going to be a massive headache with repair bills. Top Gear reviews have listed this car in the top ten of do not buy cars.
Yes, I agree with the expensive servicing! I spent $2,300 on the 120,000 major service. I was told that it had to be a genuine kit service otherwise it would have problems down the track.
I have also spent a further $700 on replacing a fuel pump - all this in one year!
I have ongoing miss-fire issues, and recently I suspect serious transmission issues which makes the car undriveable (and late for work!).
Today I have my Vectra in getting fixed - water pump and coolant issues which was apparently replaced in the major service only 4 months ago!
