"You can't find a more reliable car!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Very few things have gone wrong with the car.

In the past two years that we have owned it, few repairs have been needed.

The worst problem was that the car almost was unable to pass smog inspection. It passed after minor repairs.

None of the repairs were over $100.

The battery was replaced.

The exterior reflects its age, as does the wear on the interior and seats.

General comments?

This is an excellent car! Yes, it's 20 years old, but we could not have bought a better car for the value. It was bought as a "beater" car for $500, and it was undoubtedly the BEST $500 we have ever spent! To be honest, we did not expect to get much use out of the car.

The Honda still gets good gas mileage.

The car shifts smoothly.

My brother has driven the car all the way from California to Chicago without it breaking down once.

I am constantly amazed by the incredible stamina of this little Honda. He is planning on driving back to California from Chicago in about a month, and I am confident that it will be safe because the car is just awesome!

Previously, I have owned a 1989 Honda Civic LX, and a 1992 Honda Accord EX. Both cars had about 165,000 miles on them when they were sold, and still ran extremely well.

My 1982 Accord was 1500.00 on the lot, but I mentioned I was paying cash and the guy said 1200.00, so I checked it over. It had obviously been in a wreck, but nothing too bad; just a fender bender and the hood wouldn't stay down. I mentioned that needed fixed. It had 209 thousand on it and I found little things wrong with the engine. One thing was it was missing an oil dip stick and oil was spewing all over the place. I knew this was nothing major, but I got the guy down to 800.00! I bought it and it was such a great car for five years. I had all the minor stuff replaced, but nothing major was done on the car except the carburetor needed rebuilt. The timing belt never even went and it only needed tightening. I had it until 275 thousand miles and then gave it to a friend's Nefew as a starter/practice car. It still just purred like a kitten when I gave it away and bought my 89 Accord. It was absolutely a fabulous deal and I got triple my money's worth out of that car. Honda's are absolutely amazing, old or new!

Hey.

I owned an '82 Civic four-door, with the bigger (2.0liter) engine and a five speed, and that car was possibly the best car for the money ever produced.

I was always broke while I owned it so I learned to work on cars myself using it as a learning tool as well as transportation. I did every repair it needed myself, and I tell you, after working on the Honda with their sensible engineering, every other car I have owned has been sub-par mechanically, regardless of the other aspects.

I would still have it if it hadn't been totaled in a wreck with an insensitive driver. The insurance company totaled it out, and I cried...

Keep on keepin' on Honda lovers!

I had a 1982 Honda Accord hatchback, it was my first car. My dad gave it to me right after I got my license, and he went and got himself a 89 VW golf.

I drove that Honda everyday for 4 years without doing anything except changing the oil and spark plugs.

And this car was already 14 years old when I got it. I got in several minor wrecks with it and it never had a problem besides dents.

It ran perfect until the day I had to get rid of it due to a crash.

I got in a fight with a big delivery truck. I hit the back end of it doing about 55 mph. I was eating a taco and it spilled and I reached down to try and catch it and at the next light, BOOM I didn't even brake or anything.

I pushed to front end back about 6 inches.

The delivery truck was unhurt, so I settled right there on the spot, the guy I hit just let me go home.

Ever since then, the Honda still drove for about 4 months it drove along good, but it had a grinding noise in the transmission due to the crash, that slowly got worse and worse.

One day I was traveling down the road doing about 45 when something just let loose and the front wheels locked up and tire smoke started pouring out of them because they were completely seized.

I assume the transmission just disintegrated, which also killed the engine... but it was only then that I decided to get rid of it.

That Honda probably would have went another 100,000 if I didn't get in that wreck.

I would definitely buy another Honda someday.
