1995 Honda Civic EX 1.6L SOHC VTec from North America

Summary:

Very reliable and fun to drive

Faults:

It has some electrical system problems, a lot of this has to due with the fact that the last owner improperly wired some aftermarket components, the rear-main seal is leaking, the oil pan seal is leaking, and the radiator keeps dumping all the fluid into the resevoir causing it to overheat. Also the temperature gauge sending unit malfunctioned, and the car had no thermostat when I got it, so I had to get one put in. And the clutch is also beginning to slip, which could be expected since I race it from time to time.

General Comments:

I've only had this car for 2 months, but it is so much different than driving my Escort, or any other domestic car I've driven for that matter. It's solid, it's handles excellently, it drives like it's on rails even when I take it over 100mph. The engine runs great even for having 121,000 miles on it, it still gets 42mpg highway just as if it were new. However, it does miss and sputter just slightly when it's idling, but only because the spark plugs need replacement.

1995 Honda Civic DX 1.5 Liter from North America

Summary:

A great all-around car!

Faults:

I just bought the car in July of 2002, one month ago. I had to buy it before it got inspected because of lack of registration and long-distance. When I finally did get it checked out, all that was wrong was a little rust on the exhaust, but the car was completely perfect otherwise.

General Comments:

My car is a 1995 Honda Civic 2-Door Coupe 5-speed.

The paint still looks new on the car and it runs incredibly.

When I got it inspected for fumes, it passed with flying colors, for example a 2.6 out of 14 on one of them.

Anyway, these cars are great! The insurance is low, gas mileage is great (for my 1995 it is 35/42), repairs are cheap, and it is a lot of fun to drive, especially for a teenager like myself.

Buy Honda!!!

1995 Honda Civic EX 1.6L S.O.H.C. gas from North America

Summary:

A fun and reliable sports compact

Faults:

Driver's side C.V. boot ripped at about 45k miles, then the passenger side about 50k miles. Both resulting in replacement of drive axles (approx. $120 each).

Timing belt currently needs replacment, but it should do since I just reached 60k.

General Comments:

The car is extremely reliable and affordable. Wonderful gas mileage, even the way I have mine setup. Meaning the engine bay is packed full of go-fast goodies. Another good thing is its availability of after-market performance parts, if that's something you're into. But unless you are loaded with money don't expect to make this car a true sports car. It's quite a task.

1995 Honda Civic DX 1.5 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Poor quality at a high price

Faults:

Well first the trailing arm went and had to be replaced, very costly at $635.00 installed and realigned.

It wore out tires like crazy!

Also I changed the brake rotors about 3 times and they still warped within days of installation.

Exhaust system rusted out at 68000 miles, no other car I have had has rusted out that quick.

General Comments:

Never a problem with the engine or gearbox. The car handled well, rode well, but did not have much power even with the 5 speed.

Seats were very hard and uncomfortable, especially on long trips. Interior was small and cramped, but well laid out, gauges were easy to read and there was easy access to the heater and radio.

Overall I was very disapointed with Honda quality, from the moment I bought the car every pot hole and rough street I came across seemed to do some sort of damage to the little car. Also good quality tires did not last more than a couple thousand miles till they were balding, and the brakes constantly vibrated.

I sold the car with about 72000 miles and there was already rust starting on the deck lid. I do not recommend the 95 Honda Civic.
