2001 Honda CR-V LX review from North America
"Made for short people"
General comments?
I got this car used from a Honda dealer with 46,000 miles on it.
The A/C blew off at 51,000 miles and the whole A/C unit had to be reinstalled. It cost me $1,200. I'm glad I had bought a comprehensive 3 year 36,000 miles warranty from the dealer. It pretty much took care of the expenses. Don't buy this car used without a good warranty.
I am 6' 1" tall and I have to say that there is something seriously wrong with the car seat ergonomics. If you are tall and have a lower back pain, then this car will screw you up. I have tried cushions, pillows, cloth rolls and all kind of crap to get some lumbar support. I will keep the car only if I find a permanent way to provide a back support. But if you are under 5'10", you might find it OK.
The cup holder is a joke. If you made a quick turn with a grande sized Starbucks coffee in the holder, then you would hate coffee for the rest of your life.
Though the car may feel kinda underpowered at lower rpms, it is surprisingly powerful in the 4000 rpm range. Good passing power at speeds higher than 60 miles an hour. The power is impressive considering it is a four cylinder.
Good gas mileage and great handling. The car is quite tight and rides like new.
I have had no other maintenance problem that the A/C breaking down. (but that proved to be expensive).
