2002 Hyundai Accent GSi 1.6L DOHC from North America

Summary:

Great fun, a riot to own

Faults:

Nothing major.

General Comments:

My experience with the car has been an absolutely fantastic one. No, it doesn't accelerate like a rocket, but the engine has been very stable so far, and nothing outside of the usual long-wear items has needed to be replaced. While I do take very good care of the car, using engine and oil tune ups and additives, and keeping the general maintenance up, I do also put the car thru some punishment, taking it to speeds of over 215 Km-PH. if you do put in the inexpensive and routine maintenance, you will be well rewarded with an inexpensive car that has great mileage and is tons of fun to drive. Just keep in mind that it is a cheap four-banger, so it's acceleration isn't great, and winter driving can suck if there's black ice or more than a foot of snow.

2002 Hyundai Accent GSi 1.6 DOHC from North America

Summary:

Cheap, sporty, reliable fun car

Faults:

So far nothing went wrong with the car other than it having some electrical problems, For example the clock keeps coming off and on along with the speedometer back lights which sometimes even stay off.. I was told it is a ground wire and can be fixed, Also The check engine light keeps coming on because of an emissions code.

General Comments:

The car has good power to it especially in city and on the highway, It drives well, but has wind noise from the hatch, Interior is nice and easy to clean along with the exterior. The car is very sporty with 14" rims, spoiler, side body kit. Its also extremely good on gas the best car on gas I had yet.

2002 Hyundai Accent GS 1.6 from North America

Summary:

The most reliable car I have ever owned

Faults:

Steering wheel locked up around 30,000 miles. Covered under warranty, but they wouldn't change the locks so that I could use the same key as the steering column so I was then stuck with two keys for the car instead of the one.

Had a "ping" come from under car. Fixed under warranty. I think it had something to do with ball joints.

A/C really drains the power from this car, so I rarely turned it on.

CD player heats up pretty quickly, but it never affected the quality of playing at all. Little if any skipping.

The only times my check engine light was for a tune up and for an exhaust issue. I paid for the tune-up, exhaust leak was covered under warranty.

My windshield wiper fluid failed to work almost from the get-go when I bought the car. Required just a change of fuse though.

Seats can be uncomfortable after sitting for a long time, but who wouldn't be uncomfortable after 2 hours of driving?

The arms rest is useless for a driver that drives a stick (as I do)

The front seat belts are way behind your head to you need to literally turn around to reach them.

The GS model is a two door, and those two doors scratch very easily on the insides. Cheap plastic!

General Comments:

Love the warranty! Saves you money, so is totally worth it. Look into buying an extended warranty if you are a second owner of the car and it's not near the 60,000 mile/5 year mark yet.

Peppy little car and very easy to drive, shift, turns on a dime, fits in any parking space.

Everyone comments on how stylish the car is. Nice interior, aside from the cheap plastic all over the inside of the car.

Good amount of headroom.

Best car I have ever owned. I had it for 5 years (just sold it a few months ago because I was moving). Never left me stranded anywhere. I wish I still had it. I'd definitely buy it again.
