2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder /gasoline from North America

Summary:

Extremely responsive compact car

Faults:

The trunk line is so high, it's hard to see out of the back window when backing up.

Stereo has only tone adjustment-no equalizer.

Could use more interior lighting (ie: around the various bins/storage areas).

General Comments:

Quick and responsive, it handles curves quite well.

The engine is extremely quiet.

In the "Things Gone Wrong" section of the survey, you just listed attributes that you are not pleased with rather than actual things that have gone wrong with the vehicle warranting a repair or replacement. I guess it is safe to assume that you have not had anything that corrective warranty action.

Great review with personal touch!

2003 Hyundai Elantra GT 2.0L from North America

Summary:

Exactly how other cars should be, inexpensive and full of extras

Faults:

This is by far the most impressive car that I have ever had the opportunity to operate.

The only problem I have experienced with my car was loose screw on my moon-roof visor that created a high-pitched sound when traveling at high speeds. I tightened it up and the problem was fixed.

General Comments:

My Elantra GT runs exceptionally well and it handles on a dime. The acceleration is great being that it is a front-wheel drive car.

I got everything I wanted from this car and more. Leather seats, moon-roof, woodgrain dash, airbags front and side, and a stylish look.

The dealership, Hyundai of El Paso, was very cooperative in helping me pick and choose what features I wanted in my car.

This car continues to be a gem and I plan on keeping it for a while.

Couldn't agree more. I have just over 7600 miles on my '03 Elantra GT hatchback and feel just as you do. Great car, lots of standard features that are options on other cars, handles well, is relatively quiet compared to other cars in its class, fit and finish was excellent and no problems so far. This car is just fun to drive and beats everyone else in the "bang for the buck" category. Hyundai has done a complete turnaround since their early days in the USA and they need to start getting some positive credit for what they are accomplishing. Just a heck of a car for the price.
