2005 Hyundai Elantra VE e.g. 2 l from North America

Summary:

Leaves much to be desired

Faults:

Brake pedal goes too far down for a car with such low mileage; dealer says that's normal. In cold weather the engine pings; technician says to use higher octane, but that does not solve the problem. Tires are noisy, and I feel every bump on the road. Wife would rather drive the old '94 Buick Century. She only likes the CD player in this car.

General Comments:

I regret buying this car. "The colour is nice" was the only compliment this car ever got from other people.

After riding in other peoples' cars and then riding in this one I can see why they don't like it. The ride is rough and noisy; not smooth at all.

If you had researched thoroughly you would have no regrets.

2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS 2.0L I4 Gas from North America

Summary:

Hyundai is no longer the company to avoid

Faults:

Passenger side air-bag sensor is faulty at times. It's supposed to sense when someone is in the passenger seat and activate the airbag (it's off when the seat is vacant), but at times this is not the case. There's a recall on it. Until it's service, the passenger just maneuvers in the seat until the light goes off.

Rear right tire had an air leak from the day we got it. Replaced with no problem.

General Comments:

The steering feels solid.

All the controls in the vehicle appear to be durable.

Side air bags are a nice safety feature in a car so small..

Operating the sunroof is a breeze.

The CD stereo system along with the 6 speakers are great. Great bass and high frequencies (treble).

The chirp the car makes when the doors are locked with the key less remote sounds cheesy. You don't even want to hear it when the panic button is pressed.

The seats are very firm yet comfortable.

Great handling.

2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS 4door Sedan from North America

Summary:

Elantra GLS a new car for a used car price

Faults:

I have had my Elantra for one week and have has no problems at all. Still to early to tell.

General Comments:

I love this car so far. I love the way the car looks, very classy and simple. I have had this car for one week and have been very pleased. I have noticed that the RPMs rev a little high when I shift between gears, not sure if this is normal or if I need to get it checked? I love the way this car rides, it is so smooth and quiet, a lot better than the 99 Jetta that I traded in. I have noticed some rattles in the driver side door on cold mornings, not annoying enough to worry about. I have noticed some wind noise from the driver side door, I can't figure out if this is normal. I wonder if I am just being to picky. Anyone else notice this, I would like to know if I need to take it into the dealership.

Other than that I love this car, I replaced the radio with a new deck and upgraded the speakers. I am very happy with my ELantra. I love the warranty also.

I took my Elantra to the dealership, they said that they could not hear the wind noise that I am complaining about. It is not the door, I think that it is the window. I especially notice the noise when the wind is blowing when I am driving the car on the freeway. Not sure what to do. Dealership made me feel like I was crazy for complaining about a brand new car.
