1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0 high output straight 6 from North America

Summary:

Reliably a classic

Faults:

Leaf springs are shot, so it lags in the rear, but because there is a 3" lift, it doesn't hit the tires... Just bounces a bit over bumps in the road.

The interior is super clean. Minor rust... Mostly deferred by the bed liner having been sprayed to prevent it.

Don't know this car's history. Just paid $1200 for a 21 year old car! Super stoked about the strong running engine at almost 300,000 miles! It's definitely been used for off roading in its past. Gonna give it a good home here in a small town in Alaska :)

General Comments:

Forever a classic!

All the power options still work!

Praying it makes it to 25 years old!

I concur. I have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Sport.

Turn the key, and it drives me from A to B without a glitch.

4.0L engine. Lots of cargo space. Awesome road view.

Low tech, but no mechanical or system problems. Just the usual maintenance required.

Operating cost is low. Excellent vehicle. I take care and I keep it.

Summary:

I love my Jeep

Faults:

The clutch seems to be the weakness in this vehicle, having had to replace it early on while still under warranty, a repair at about 12 years, and a new one recently.

Other than that, only the normal things; tires, batteries, and last year, a radiator. Not bad for a vehicle almost 19 years old.

I've test driven new vehicles, but nothing seems to measure up to my Jeep.

General Comments:

This is a very reliable vehicle. I can't imagine getting through the worst winter on record, without it!

The only downside, is the small entry to the back seat, but as someone else has said, I don't sit there...

1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0 H.O. straight 6 from North America

Summary:

I truly don't want anything else

Faults:

A confusing unidentifiable (by me) squeak on occasion when idle. It usually comes about after rain.

Leaks power steering.

Recently started to leak coolant, but oddly only once in a while.

General Comments:

After being spoiled with this Jeep, I truly don't want anything else.

The low end power it possesses is almost ridiculous. The tires will burn if you floor it, but if you give it a decent amount of gas or floor it when above 30 mph, it puts you back in your seat with almost the force of a high end sports car.

Before I got it, it was my uncle's. He towed a 25' deck boat regularly every summer. I'm not sure how much it weighed, but it dwarfed the Jeep in size. It did this almost effortless, and caused it no problems.

It is very stable on high ways. I attempted to see how fast it could go, and got it up well over 100 with rpms to spare (by estimation 110). Even at that speed, there wasn't much of a shake.

The 4wd is perfect on snow and ice. Even on older tires, it moves effortlessly on unplowed roads with just a pull of a lever.

For an SUV, it handles beautifully. Driving it anywhere even on long trips is quite comfortable.

They look sweet! Though mine is white with lots of chrome (no rust) sitting on white wall tires, so it perhaps beats most.

1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0 from North America

Summary:

Love it!!!

Faults:

Normal wear and tear has been performed on this vehicle; brakes, spark plugs, oil changes, nothing major.

General Comments:

So I bought this vehicle in May, because I was getting tired of driving my little car in the snowy, cold wintry Calgary weather... I was a bit leery of it because I had brand new Dodge vehicles in the past few years, and this was by far the oldest vehicle I have had since I began driving... I wasn't sure if I was going to even keep it as I wasn't crazy about the ride, it seriously s a beast...

So yesterday we got our first snowfall, crappy weather, slick icy snow covered roads... I backed out of my garage a basket of nerves, but within the first few minutes of throwing my little beast in 4X4, I was smiling... I LOVE THIS JEEP!!!

I have never felt safer in a vehicle during a bad winter storm. I forgot to plug it in, was at work 9 hours + (it did get pretty cold today), but the thing fired up like it had been sitting in my garage all day...Seriously, I still HATE winter driving, but I can now at least not be freaked out by it!

JEEP, you rock my world!!
