The radiator began leaking, and eventually had to be replaced at approximately 125,000 miles. At the same time rear brake drums, cylinders, and shoes had to be replaced. Overall however, those are the only maintenance problems I have had since I bought it.
On the subject interior, the heat notch on the climate control has broken, but heat will come out of the vents under "vent". Also, the premium speakers that were factory installed have begun to wear out at about 118,000 miles.
Very good SUV. The part time 4 wheel drive is excellent in the snow. The car has also been in a series of accidents, and only exterior body repairs were necessary. Though the engine may sound quite finicky, it is generally reliable.
My Jeep Cherokee Laredo (92) has a little over 128,000 miles on it. I bought it in August 2002 and have had little problems with it. The previous owners must have taken good care of it. Minor oil leak due to valve cover needing to be replaced. It takes about 150 miles a week on it, driven mostly on New Hampshire back roads. It is very good in the snow, as long as the four wheel drive is on. It slides all over the place in the snow if the four wheel drive is off. I think if this Jeep is maintained on a normal basis there will be no major problems. However, the fog lights do not work, the windshield wipers over extend when the windshield is very wet, it has problems starting at times in very cold temperatures (but it may just need a new gas filter), and it is not a good highway vehicle.
