I own a 2001 GC Laredo with 84K miles on it. I am fed up with three brake/rotor jobs already! Just this morning, my ENGINE light came on, and stayed on. No problem with the car - all fluids are fine, not idling rough and temp/oil pressure are fine. What gives, Jeep??? Take my $29K and give me a bad product? Rotors are for garbage.

Our 2003 Grand Cherokee Laredo rides like a dream. Bought it with 36,000 on it. Right away needed transmission work.

Then the AC fan didn't work. Now the AC again blows cold then hot. Am scared what that might be. People rave about the nice comfortable ride, but I hate the mileage per gallon.

Having had Hondas before, its hard to get used to l4.5 mpg.

The salesman told me 22. Haven't seen that yet. According to

previous comments, maybe I should trade it while its still running.

My 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4wd was purchased new. Have had a lot of problems with wobbly front end. Rotor changed, but problem is back. 3 power window regulators had to be replaced. Engine light goes on and off. Been on for the last few months. Now at 40,000 miles it is going to cost me money again. Why can't they build a quality product anymore?

I have owned my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo for two years now. Purchased it used and have had nothing, but problems. I am now on my third motor and it is currently in the shop for my second transmission. Beware of these Jeep's I have had all of the same symptoms the other owners are listing. I will never own another Grand Cherokee in my life. As soon as I can I'm dumping this thing, if you own one I'd suggest doing the same thing.

I have a 2001 Jeep GCL... it is the worst investment I can say that I have ever made. The check engine light is now on, and my driver's side and passenger side power windows have pens jammed in them to hold them up. I have had to change numerous things in the vehicle... argh it is so frustrating... I just hope one person reads this forum before deciding on a Jeep GCL and saves money. I am upside down in it, but I think it will still save me money to trade it in.

Jeep cherokee 2001. Same problems as others. bought new, now has 27,000 miles. Brake problems have already started and driver door window won't work. The engine light problem was also just a faulty gas cap, caused an air lock. Cap replaced and it was OK. One other time the dealer patched up a leak in one of the air hoses, problem solved, at least for now. Current status: Refuses to start, new battery. Time to dump this baby. I think I have fallen out of love.

2001 Jeep GC - replaced transmission at 150K, replaced passenger window electric motor and have the same passenger side brake light not working for over 2 yrs. We need Chrysler to have a recall on the brake light problem.

Side note - one day the engine wouldn't stay running. Replaced battery - NG.. finally I found a vaccum hose lose and that fixed it and that also solved a "cruise control" problem I had.

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with an in-line 4.0L 6 cylinder engine and the low engine coolant light came on. I checked the coolant level and it is fine. It is getting a little hotter than usual when it sits at idle for more than 15 minutes, but not overheating. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any suggestions? Other than that I have had no problems with it since I replaced the rotors and brakes this summer.

I have a Jeep Cherokee 2001. I have about 40,000 miles on it. I have gone through front rotors and had them fixed twice. Front end shakes when brakes are applied. My front axle has just started to leak. My radiator needed to be replaced for a second time. The radiator is put in in away that it is impossible to get at. I now found out my water pump is shot, I need a another rotor & break job and now my transmission is shot. 40,000 miles - I never thought I would have this many problems. This is my 4th jeep and I never had this many problems before. I cannot believe that Jeep would put out a car with this many problems and not recall it. The front ends and rotors are the worst.

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee.. bought new 10/2000. I have 63,125 miles and now things are starting to go south. The driver and passenger window Regulators broke same day ($825.00).The check engine light came on so I took it in and the computer reading said it was a malfunction in the transmission. It was serviced.. new fluid and filter ($175.00) shifts fine... however, it feels like the transmission downshifts whenever I slow to make a turn or in the turn. Its hard to describe I just know that it didn't do it before. Went to the shop today and ask about it I was told that when it was serviced.. lots of shavings in pan and to rebuild would be $1500 to $2000.Is there a power train warranty for original owners with only 63,000 miles on their jeep? I am paranoid now to go on a trip because I fear a breakdown. I have never had a brake problem, but that will probably come next.

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo I6 4.0L. The tire alignment was off from the factory and ate through the Goodyear Wranglers it came with in less than 14,000 miles. It was wrecked and front end rebuilt (probably why I have not had rotor problems fingers crossed). It just broke 90,000 miles the other week and to be honest, for 90,000 miles I'd say it has held up pretty decent (especially being involved in two wrecks and rebuilt each time). I've had the usual plastic clip break on the window cable and had to replace the assembly, two water pumps go out (only because the first one was a rebuilt they put on and it failed), as well as the rear hatch locking solenoid went out which I replaced. Been changing the oil every 3-5k miles and keeping the fluids topped off and everything greased and well I can't complain. For what it has been through, I think mine has held up fairly well. However, being a Chrysler product with 90k miles on it, I am beginning to wonder when it will leave me beside the road...

I was just about to purchase a 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo. I am so glad I read this consumer report. About 95% of the comments have been negative. Thank You for comments!

I've had my jeep since july of 2001, it now has over 150000 miles. I've just now replace the brakes and rotors, its on its 3rd set of tires. Not bad considering its almost 8 years old. About 6 months after I got it, did have to replace the thing in the driver side window. Last year I replaced a $75 sensor in the transmission (thought the transmission was gone, it was just that sensor, kept it parked for 6 months becasuse I couldn't afford a new transmission) it was pretty funny when we found out it was just the sensor. The last 3 months we've replaced the fan hub (450.00) and the speed sensor in the transmission (330.00) Engine light is on, but everything is normal. Considering it is 8 years old and paid for I've been pretty darn lucky. I'd buy another one in a heart beat.
