2000 Kia Sephia LS from North America

Summary:

Mechanically solid but light body and interior construction

Faults:

Some trouble when still new. Had to install an new computer. No problem since. All was covered under warranty. They provided me a free loaner.

General Comments:

Cheap interior, but has held up well. Very thin metal dings and hail damages easily. Has never let me down and always starts. Has had typical mechanical needs (tires, battery, brakes,) No trouble with transmission, engine, exhaust)

2000 Kia Sephia Base 1.8L DOHC from North America

Summary:

Greatest little Korean police car ever :)

Faults:

Replaced a coil after first two years.

Dashboard cracked; probably avoidable if I had used windshield sun blocker. I live in Florida.

Brakes three times. I live on the beach and salt erosion is a problem for everyone.

Speedometer stopped working after 6 years.

Clutch pedal not disengaging when vehicle interior is hot. That is right now at 150000 miles and 8 years of constant use.

General Comments:

This was my first new car, and I have had it 8 years and still drives great, very peppy with the manual transmission.

The interior is looking shabby, but I am an abusive driver of this poor little Kia. It has more than held up to my expectations, and kept me on the go with absolutely no downtime until the clutch pedal sticky issue, which is being addressed as I type this.

Original tires were horrible, but that would be my only complaint besides the dashboard swelling. I can't find a Sephia in a salvage yard where the dash isn't cracked. So this must be the norm.

2000 Kia Sephia LX 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

I personally like this car

Faults:

The only problem that I have had with this car is the seal around the door has began to fall off when you open the door.

General Comments:

This car is in very good shape for being about 8 or 9 years old. I drive this car 70 something miles everyday and will until I get a new car.

2000 Kia Sephia from North America

Summary:

I really hate my kia sephia

Faults:

My lock on my drivers side door broke and the other doors don't want to lock.

My engine light is always on, along with my overdrive light flashing all the time.

The rotors keep warping had to replace three times within one year.

Had to replace brake pads and shoes twice in one years.

I had my car for about four months and my rocker panels were so bad that they just feel off on to the driveway.

Now I am having a really hard time trying to start my car, I have to really jam it in park to try and turn the key over to start it.

2000 Kia Sephia from North America

Summary:

Many cons, but still an alright car

Faults:

(Within the past two years)

-OVERHEATS!! Constantly! Sitting in traffic, Going through a fast-food drive-thru, Teaching a new driver to drive, etc. this car does not want to idle.

-Wheel alignment has goes out easily

-Replaced all four tires three times.

-Turn signal switch/steering wheel column came apart, expensive to fix.

-Dashboard is warping horribly.

-Exhaust leak, convertor went out!

-Timing belt went out

-Hard starter in general, but esp. in winter, and doors don't want to open/close in winter.

-Trunk has a few times decided to just not close for me.

General Comments:

I paid $4500 for this car on in 11/05, and to date (9/07) have spent 2,608.l0 on repairs/inspections. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

The metal of this car is Cheap, Cheap, Cheap. I knew this when I bought it, and was okay with it... but be prepared for dings and dents, if you so much as touch this car it gets a dent from your finger.

It is nice inside, seats are comfortable for long drives.

Good gas mileage, can't complain there.

All in all, the car is semi-reliable and I don't regret buying it. It's good if you're looking for a cheap car to get you from point A to point B and don't care too much about frills.
