2004 Kia Sorento XS 2.5 diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Excellent quality built vehicle

General Comments:

This is a very luxurious vehicle without doubt. It is a pleasure to drive, and one feels that you want to drive the vehicle at a nice pace, not too fast and not too slow.

My only criticism is that the suspension is hard, and you feel every bump in the road, and the power steering is too light.

I hope Kia will make the suspension and the power steering better, with future models, then it would be a perfect vehicle.

2004 Kia Sorento EX Luxe 3.5 V6 petrol from Netherlands

Summary:

Great SUV for half the price

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Great value for money. Stationwagon or saloon with same luxury would cost at least 4000 euro extra, another SUV even more.

Great engine with nice 6 cylinder sound, really quick.

Handling is not up to SUV standards, but this has to to with the terrain chassis underneath the SUV body, and maybe with the 18" alloy wheels with low tires that are on the car.

The car was sprayed into one color (black), which looks much better I think.

Plastic of the dash is a bit cheap looking, but a BMW X5 costs twice as much.

No squeaks or rattles.

Mileages is bad (6 kilometers to the liter), also due to short travel distance to work with lots of traffic jams and of course the weight of the car.

The only decent looking KIA model.

So then why is there a frown next to your comment?

2004 Kia Sorento XS 2.5CRDI from UK and Ireland

Summary:

An excellent vehicle

Faults:

The odometer is reading in kilometers, not in miles.

General Comments:

The car is very well equipped, quiet and comfortable. As good as, if not better, than any premium range 4 x 4. Servicing costs are reasonable, and running cost lower than expected.

2004 Kia Sorento EX 3.5 V6 from United Arab Emirates

Summary:

Kia have got a Mid-size SUV class winner!

Faults:

Nothing. Even in the 40 - 50 degree heat here in Dubai and taking the car off-road into the sand dunes nothing has gone wrong.

I couldnt afford to handle the 3.5 V6 engine in the Uk as petrol prices would bankrupt me and this is not the most economical of engines. In Europe, the diesel engine would be the better choice financially.

General Comments:

The head rests that tilt make driving very comfortable.

The middle arm rest in the rear passenger seats makes a big difference for adults travelling in the rear.

Bodywork and finish seem to be of very good quality. I have the indigo blue with beige body cladding and this gives the car an expensive almost classy look.

Nice chrome door handles inside and out and chrome edged mirrirs add to the classy look aforementioned.

Excellent standard CD and cassetts player with 8 speakers. No need to upgrade there.

Speed sensitive steering is a huge help when parking in confined spaces. It also makes driving the car feel more luxurious and upmarket.

Very quiet and smooth drive. Twice after filling up with petrol, I have tried to turn on the engine when it is already on, it's so quiet.

The quality of the interior fittings again give that expensive feel and look.

The multimeter in the roof is a nice touch, stating temperature in celcius and farenheit, altitude above sea level and air pressure!!??

The cloth used in bright and makes the car feel bigger even though it is big enough for 5 adults to sit comfortably.

6 air bags, ABS and EBD, steel bar reinforced doors, excellent brakes and good all round vision make this car 'safety features packed.'

I bought this car for 13,000 GBP in Dubai. The equivalent cost in the UK is approximately 23,000 GBP. Go figure??

I guess it is a matter of luck with this brand. I bought a KIA Carnival and I have never had a single problem in 3 years with a distance of 66000 KM. My brother bought a 2005 model that spent more time in the shop than in his house.
