155K steering wheel motor gear to adjust steering wheel brakes, still adjusts, only its difficult.
170K AC unit broke after getting heater fixed from body shop.
170K same time as previous, CD changer breaks after getting out of shop. (I think shop broke it, but it my word against theirs)
179K exhaust has holes needs to be replaced, probobly from bottoming out on speed bumps.
188K New water pump and $1000 tune up needed from engine mis-fire.
194K New alternator installed.
196K car running strong and trans seems to be strong, but for how long I don't know. Hopefully a few more years...
I fell in love with this car when I first saw it, bought it in 2004 with 146K on it for $6900, now its at 196K and 50,000 miles later still running great.
The lifters click in the engine and have since I've owned it and they never seemed to be an issue.
Has lots of Power... car speed will top out at exactly 157 mph. speedometer goes up tho 160mph though. (*warning, use Z rated tires*)
I still love it, but its got so many miles now, I planned to keep it till 250K, but I've got extra money saved up and I am going to buy my friends 97 M3 or a 2003 IS300, just test drove one today, much quicker then the sc400 but, that may be just due to my cars age.
Go with the IS300. The BMW M3 will have a lot more problems and will cost a lot more to fix. I drive a 2001 IS300 with 100K and have had no problems. I paid to have the 90K service which was the only major expense.
