1988 Mazda B2200 SE-5 Extended Cab 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Excellent truck, holds its resale value well, dependable

Faults:

The truck sat dormant for 3 or 4 years before I bought it. I had to replace everything - rubber, hoses, belts, tires etc.

Had to replace the fuel pump because I ran out of gas twice in 2 weeks.

Carb is not the greatest, she still sputters some. Repair guy said "that's as good as it gets".

No smoke, gets about 20mpg, which stinks.

General Comments:

Great little truck!! I would recommend an extended cab if possible. Bucket seats need to go all the way back to be comfortable. I'm 6 ft tall and the regular cab was way too small.

1988 Mazda B2200 2.2L carb from North America

Summary:

An incredibly durable piece of machinery!

Faults:

Front end is starting to wear, I changed the engine out at 263,000 miles even though it still ran great... just burned oil.

Other than that the truck has never been in the shop for anything. I used to pull a 3000 lb trailer and abused it a little. WHAT A WARHORSE! Even the A/C still works with all original parts.

1988 Mazda B2200 Base 2.2L Carburated from North America

Faults:

Choke gets stuck closed for a few weeks a year and the gas tank leaks at the halfway seam, but I'm not complaining knowing it has done over 460,000 Kms!!!!!! (original engine, doesn't burn oil!!!!!) Runs GOOD!!! Nothing can kill it, I don't think. The lifters have big gashes from all the wear on them, but they still work!

General Comments:

This truck is amazing... proper maintenence will guarantee it will run forever!

I will agree with you this is a well built truck. I just passed 586,000 miles on the original motor and still going strong.

1988 Mazda B2200 Pickup Truck 2.2 liter from North America

Faults:

The front-end alignment seems to be impossible to hold what I would call "true-alignment". In the two months I've had this truck, it has needed alignment twice.

General Comments:

All in all, this has been a great little truck!! Easy on gas, reliable, and fairly easy to maintain.
