1991 Mazda B2600 4x4 2.6 Mits from North America

Summary:

Too many miles? Never!

Faults:

This vehicle has been through the woods and back more than a few times.. so I have to give it a chance.

While rocking out of a mud hole, the fifth-reverse hub in the transmission sheared its splines in the main-shaft! In the process of repair, but not fun.

Leaf spring U-bolts are loose.

Oil leaks out everywhere.

General Comments:

For the miles, this truck is still a good buy. For what I paid, I can spend a little to fix it up and end up with a nice rust free 4x4 that makes people say "how many???" when I tell them how many miles she has.

For freeway use, I would have to replace the engine, it is just too worn to maintain highway speeds. Lucky for me I am not near a freeway!

1991 Mazda B2600 SE Extra Cab 2.6 from North America

Summary:

Dependable value for the dollar

Faults:

Repairs to date include a new head @130,000 miles (my fault... I didn't keep up on the antifreeze maintenance), a new heater core this week, U-joints, alternator, the usual PM parts... brakes, battery, belts, tune up parts, wheel bearings, and CV shafts.

I rebuilt the motor @186,000 miles, because I wanted to, not because I had to.

The rear quarters are starting to show some rust, but that is expected in New England. Considering I didn't have it undercoated when I bought it, I think it has survived quite well.

General Comments:

A very dependable vehicle. I have been driving 75 miles a day to and from work, in all kinds of weather, depended upon it to get me to fire and ambulance calls on a daily basis, and given it a thorough workout on many occasions (I once towed a 10 ton dump truck with it).

Its 4x4 capability has never failed me.

The horsepower is not the same as say a Toyota supercharged 3.4, but I have repeatedly taken a Nissan V-6 off the line.

I am very disappointed in the lack of aftermarket parts for this particular model. The only things I've been able to find are a 2" body lift kit, a rear bumper and a K&N air filter. Thankfully, I've been able to fabricate whatever I've needed.

I have a 2600I, 1991 regular cab PU. It has been a champ, I have well over 200,000 miles and it is still running strong. My only expense has been tires and exhaust. I really believe that I will get well over 300,000 miles easily. I really love my little truck and for sure it is the best buy.

I have 7 Seater and I can't BELEIVE the great ride I get on along drive. The fuel consumption could be better. I have not spent any money on repairs at 118000km.Need to find snorkle and lift kit here in New Zealand.

I have a 1991 Mazda b2600i 2wd reg cab. it has 255,000 miles. when I got it had 130,000 and paid $500.00 for it. the best truck I will ever own I'm sure. the only thing I have done to it is change the oil, battery, tire, belts, and put a computer in it. I will drive it as long as the wheels stay on it. 4/10/06.

I have owned two B2600i's and think they are the best little trucks out there and agree that there is not enough aftermarket for the trucks. They totally keep up with all the jeeps and toyata's in the bush and it is a shame that there isn't more of them around.

Bought new in 1991. Is a 2600I 2wd with air and stick shift.

Now has 325000 miles.

Uses a little oil. I love this truck..
