Front brakes would stick hard and slow down the car. Brake master cylinder replacement fixed this. $300.
Engine light went on often. Replacement of oxygen sensor fixed this, but engine light sometimes goes off when car is under heavy load in the mountains. Got ripped off by dealer ($400). Found a much better shop to do business through.
Igniter/alternator went out. $400.
Boots cracked on CV joints, replaced both front drive axles. $370.
Evaporator core for air conditioner needs replacement. Will cost over $600 to fix.
Minor electrical problem. With the alarm armed, the alarm will go off if the passenger door is unlocked with key.
Water collected in the trunk where the spare is located. Never could find where water was coming in from. Pulled the rubber plug permanently from the bottom of the trunk to fix this.
Car is very sleek looking. Even though it is nearly ten years old, its styling looks like it could have been made yesterday.
LS model is very nice with V6 engine, leather, alarm, and all the other amenities that came with this model.
Car is enjoyable to drive. The V6 is a little small, but performance is not bad.
Headroom is tight for a six footer.
This car has had more repairs than anticipated, but its still much cheaper than having payments.
I own a 1994 MX6 LS and I have come across some of the same problems.
1. My engine light comes on quite frequently.
2. My alarm goes off at odd times.
3. Water collected in my trunk in the spare location.
I must say though...
... our MX6's do need TLC, and if you can't afford to give it to them they stuff up and make you pay oodles of cash to keep them on the road!
At least, that's what I've found!
