1995 Mitsubishi Galant glsi 1.8 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Good all round car

Faults:

No faults at all.

General Comments:

Very reliable car.

Comfortable interior, but too much wind noise at speed.

The engine is the real strong point of this car, spins up very quickly and has good mid range power. Acceleration is very quick for a big saloon with 1.8 engine.

Engine also gives good economy.

Brakes are excellent with all round disc's and ABS.

Gearbox gets a bit notchy, but most mitsubishi gearboxes with miles on do this.

I change gear oil every second service to stop this getting any worse.

Handling and stability at speed are both good.

For a car first introduced in 1993 it still looks up to date.

1995 Mitsubishi Galant E from North America

Summary:

For such a piece of trash, it sure does last long

Faults:

At 150,000 miles, the timing belt flew off and I was stranded 150 miles away from home.

At 90,000 the compressor fell out of the car and I have not had air conditioning since, which is not good because I live in Southern Louisiana.

At 100,000 miles, the front passenger power window control went out and I had to replace both the front power window controls.

The Driver seat has been broken twice.

Currently, the shocks of this vehicle are needing to be replaced, especially the right rear shock, when that tire hits a bump, I sometimes almost fishtail out of control. This is also the reason I cannot have back seat passengers, the weight makes me bottom out and makes the car almost uncontrollably when I hit an indention in the road.

Every possible belt has been replaced in this vehicle at least once or twice.

The Transmission and/or the Fuel Pump is about to go out.

The Mitsubishi dealership in my town is horrible, they are only willing to help you when you want to buy a vehicle, and after that they really don't care what happens to you. At one time, they tried to argue with me about a recall which I had written proff existed.

General Comments:

This car is has had many problems, but overall, I am very rough on cars and it has lasted this long, so even though I think it may want to set it on fire and watch it burn at times, I digress when I say that maybe it has it's merit.. No car has lasted me almost 5 years.

1995 Mitsubishi Galant S 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

I enjoy the car it has been reliable

Faults:

All the belts fell off the car in a bad rainstorm 40,207 miles. The car needed to be towed and then serviced.

I had an exhaust leak at the front of the car around 65,000 miles.

The water-pump broke and leaked antifreeze at 75,000 miles. They also found one of the timing chains was broke. (This car has two)

The front defroster does not push out as much hot air and the front passenger side speaker never worked.

General Comments:

I have had some problems with this car however overall I had good experiences with it. I would buy another Mitsubishi in the future if I wanted another car. This car is pretty good on gas mileage and I can rely on it. As all cars things break and that needs to be expected.

I have all of the same problem on my car. Still I would keep one because I wanted to swap a vr4 motor in it.
