1995 Nissan Altima GXE 2.0 from North America

Summary:

A worthwhile steal

Faults:

I haven't had any problems with my car until a few days ago. The brake pads, rotors, etc. need to be replaced at a cost of $600.00. The brakes are still exceptional (even though they need to be replaced).

The paint on the front, even though it has been well taken care of, is chipping off.

General Comments:

I love this car. It has the pick up I need getting around in my area. The air conditioning still works like a charm, the seats are comfortable, and there is plenty of room. The only thing that has ever bothered me is the brakes which will usually squeak no matter what the quality.

1995 Nissan Altima GXE 2.4 from North America

Summary:

Very reliable car

Faults:

Harder on gas than I expected.

Replaced brakes.

Replaced muffler.

General Comments:

Car is great. Compared to other vehicles I have driven / owned, there is very little to worry about when driving. I have total confidence in this car. There has been very little service required except for the normal fluid changes, brake changes, and exhaust changes.

The 1995 Nissan Altima GXE is a very reliable vehicle. I've owned one for the last 2 years and have put over 30,000 commute miles on it. The car has approximately 112,000 miles - mostly highway - according the original owner. I've only had to invest about $700 into the vehicle which was primarily a tune-up (belts, hoses, plugs, distributor cap) and some small non-mechanical repairs. Most recently, I replaced the Oxygen Sensor for $21.99, in order to have the car pass California Emission Testing.

Runs great, but for a tall guy (6'3"+) those long commutes do get kind of crampy.

My advisory, pick one up today and drive the heck out of it tomorrow! They will run forever if properly maintained.

My altima has been pretty good, but sometimes the accelerator gets stuck and the gears get stuck between 1and 2nd I don't know why. The brakes are the best I have used and overall the car is perfect. I would recommend it as a used car. It will last forever!

1995 Nissan Altima GLE 2.4L from North America

Summary:

Solidly built luxury car that is better built than the Fords and Chevs

Faults:

Pretty much nothing, apart from a ride that seems to translate a lot of the bumps and potholes in the road... could be the area in which I live, though.

The car has alloy wheels so oxidation on the rims occurs more frequently than I would like.

General Comments:

Comfortable car, beautiful leather interior with compact disc player, cruise control, all the toys.

0-60 is accomplished in about 9 seconds with an automatic, so it has plenty of performance.

I would have preferred a slightly bigger engine, but the slight lack of low-end torque is more than compensated by the good fuel economy.

Insurance is a pittance (only $400 U.S.) for 6 months.

Overall, better value and build quality than most of the American-built sedans out there, such as the Pontiac Grand Prix.

1995 Nissan Altima GXE 2.8 twin cam 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Good car. Depending on where you live

Faults:

Gaskets are leaking and the brakes are squealing.

General Comments:

This is a very good first car.

It's luxurious, and handles very well. It can hold up to 5 people, counting the driver, and not counting the very comfortable trunk (I have strange friends).

It is very difficult to find people in my area to work on Nissan Altimas. Therefore, I'm probably going to end up screwing my car over trying to fix it myself.

1995 Nissan Altima GXE 2.4L 150hp from North America

Faults:

1. Fixed oil leaking problem (under warranty).

2. Replaced block heater at 40,000km (under warranty).

3. Replaced oxygen sensor at 45,000km (under warranty).

4. Steering wheel vibrated when the car reached above 120km/h. Changed front tires, did wheel balance and alignment several times but couldn't see much improvement.

General Comments:

PROS: This car is not bad as a family sedan. Comfortable seating, luxury feel. Tape and CD player are good. Actually, this car is quiet reliable but I would like to get another one for better performance.

CONS: It is too heavy for a Japanese car. Bad gas mileage. Slow and unwilling acceleration until you drive it for a while at 50km/h. Body rolls when turning. Rear speakers are terrible. Gloves box and center storage area are too small. Hard to get in/out the car. Shocked by static several times in winter. Bad re-sale value.

1995 Nissan Altima GXE 2.4 from North America

Faults:

Replaced brakes twice and they need it again.

Replace fuel tube & plate.

Replaced sway bar & sway bar links.

Replaced alternator.

General Comments:

I am very dissatisfied with the service department where I purchased the Altima. Every time I take it in for a problem I usually have to take it at least three times because they can " never find " the problem I complain about.

However there are two other Nissan dealers in my city and I have never had a problem getting either of them to fix things the first time I take the car to them.

Other than that, I usually trade my cars after the warranty expires but I like this one so much I'm keeping it.
