2001 Nissan Altima GXE review from North America
"Reliable, but has a terrible ride"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Hoses and belts replaced at 120000.
Windshield cracked due to stone from a truck.
Battery at 138000.
Suspension is the major issue.
General comments?
I bought this car at 5 years old in 2006. It did have high miles on it, but ran (and still does) great.
However, considering I did not put much into the car, and I live in a state where the roads are not well maintained, the suspension is shot. I always thought the car's handling was not good, and the ride was at first acceptable (my Pontiac Grand Am had a terrible ride, so this was a step up), but slowly the suspension got rougher. Now the car is difficult to control on the roads, and and the ride is just terrible.
I am trading in the car in a few days. All things considered, I did get my moneys worth, and as far as general reliability, I can say it was dependable.
