I have a 2003 Alero V6 and I am having the same hesitation problem as the person that posted on June 2nd of 2006. The car has this problem at random which makes me think it is the computer. The car will hesitate when leaving from a stop. Any suggestions would be great.

Crazy, I am having the same problem right now with the hesitation. My diagnostic also stated the EGR was bad as listed in the June 06 comment. I had the fuel system cleaned (they said that should clear up the EGR problem) but it didn't really do anything. I was about to get the valve completely replaced, but now I'm hesitant since the June 06 commenter reported that the new valve still didn't fix the problem. Any suggestions?

I have a 2003 Alero and it has been making a "humming" noise when you drive that we thought was coming from the wheels. You can't hear this noise from the outside, only inside of the vehicle. At first we thought it might be the wheel bearings, but when we took it in to the shop to have this checked, we were told they thought it might be the transmission. We then had someone else take it for a test drive and they don't think it is the transmission. It's automatic, shifts fine and we can't see anything that might point to a transmission problem. We replaced wheel bearings, brakes, change oil every 5000 kms, no leaks, etc. Has anyone ever had a "humming" noise, if so what was the problem?

I have a 2003 Alero, owned since 2002. I have 85,000+ miles on it, with no problems except I had to replace the battery because I left the dome light on.

I would highly recommend an Alero. I love it, it's been very dependable for me.

As far as people complaining about chugging, or any issue about get up and go; take some Sea Foam and put it in the gas tank, the PCV line, and crank case (where you put the oil in) and it will do a great job of cleaning it out.

For more information on the Alero and how you can solve some problems, visit www.aleromod.com. That site is very helpful in fixing common issues with the Alero and GM vehicles.

And for those who say the Alero sucks, and the Japanese cars are better; all my friends have Japanese cars, and they can't hold a candle to my Alero and its 3.4L V6.

To the person wondering about humming noise from wheels.

Do what I did. Find a long STRAIGHT hill and half way down coast down in neutral. If the noise stays the same, ie. did not change with engine speed, then it's your bearings. Changed mine and noise is gone.

But, I now have a rattling noise from front driver side and my speedo jumps up 20 kph erratically when driving over 100 kph. Any ideas?
