General comments?
I bought the car in April on 2008 for 550. It's great first starter car.
I finally put the car on the road on 9/6/08, and only 20 days and it's getting all these problems.
The car's very reliable when there are no problems. I can tell that the car wasn't always maintained when it was supposed to. Someone let the car get up to 6,000 miles before an oil change from 102,000 to 108,000. As soon as I got it I changed the oil.
Before the starter and manifold and other problems arose, the car was amazing, and still is.
She's in the shop right now getting a new starter, and the new exhaust comes next week.
It's a great car if you take care of maintenance and keep her clean. She has plenty of power and only has 148 hp stock and 255 ft. torque. She'll still pick up and go. Brakes stop on a dime.
If you have one, I suggest replacing the stock thm200 transmission. It goes real quick behind this V8. Get a thm350 or 200-4r. You can tell the difference; on the 200 and 200-4r the trans oil pan has the words metric and something else stamped on it.
Overall a great car; if you tune her up and keep up with oil changes, she'll last forever.
I know she can go past 85. I beat a newer VW Jetta with this boat. If you're lucky to have the velour seats, you're living in luxury city.
Very safe in accidents. I was rear ended by a mid 90's Oldsmobile and I didn't even feel it. Her front end was almost totaled - my car had not a scratch, except the bumper got pushed in an inch or so
