Very good little car.


Transmission broke @99000km.

Minor oil leaks, must replace part.

General Comments:

This is the best car ever built in Romania, apart from Solenza, and I really love it. Fast, good-looking, but not very economic.

A nice, cheap car for people who like simple, useful things


The ignition key blocked once in the lock.

The clutch disk had to be changed.

The carburetter has to be cleaned quite often.

The Del-Co cover had to be changed.

General Comments:

It's a very nice car, even if it was designed many years ago.

It shows stability on the road despite the narrow tires.

Me and my boyfriend bought this car while still being students, it was very cheap and helped us a lot. We used the car in town, for going to school and for shopping, but also for long distance trips. We visited the whole country (Romania), having access to some very difficult roads.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Hi there.

I am from Romania. I have an Olcit too. A quite nice car. I ran over 160 km/h, which is real performance for a Romanian car. At the moment, this car is no longer produced, but still remains a good and reliable car.

Reliable my ass! My father has owned one of these and after each important trip, he would do another to the mechanic's to fix some broken part. It is really crappy and although the air cooled engine does provide out of the ordinary sensations, the suspensions and other details make this car not worth being taken in consideration.

The worst car ever built - no kidding!


Everything went wrong. This is just a very short list:

Oil radiator changed at 20000km.

Engine rebuilt four times so far.

Suspension changed every 10000km.

The door locks are a nightmare; I replaced them countless times...

All ignition components need replacing every 5-10000km.

Unbelievably bad paint; after 10 years I had to replace more than half of the body with new parts because of rust.

And much more...

General Comments:

The car is easy to drive, when it runs.

The engine is noisy but pretty strong. The suspension is very rigid and offer a good ride at high speed.

The biggest problem is RELIABILITY.

It breaks down all the time and you can't trust the car for a long journey. This car is a shame for the manufacturer.

A very good car.

Very reliable.

After 100000 km, except petrol pump, nothing went wrong, no problem at all.

It still goes 150 km/h.

Ignition parts changed at 15000 km.

If you respect the manufacturer's advice you have no trouble at all.

I am talking to the person who stated that he drove his Oltcit for one million kilometers. This is probably the best joke I have ever heard in my life. How and where can you drive a car for one million kilometers in Romania (about the size of Oregon). Please reconsider your information.
