Tappets, the noise the engine made sounded like it was on its way out, which was a shame because it was a nice little car, which I would have kept longer, if the rust wasn't quite so bad and the engine was better.
While I'm on the subject on the engine, after I got it, I discovered it was an Chrysler Alpine engine!
Seats looked worse for wear.
Not a bad first car, pretty nippy for a 1.0 litre - I had over 90mph out of it (though acceleration was slow!).
Handling was good for its size, it didn't shake all over the place.
Interior: seats were a nice sporty blue colour and quite comfortable.
I definitely recommend a 205 as a first car, just don't go for a 1.6 or 1.9 GTi until you've had some no claims!
Sorry. The engine is not from a Chrysler/Talbot Alpine. It's from a Talbot Samba.
Talbot and peugeot are the same company, the alpine uses the same engine as the horizon.
In the last two months I've had to replace the front two brake callipers!
I've only had the car for a year. apart from that, good car.

My Pug has sprung a leak in the boot? I don't have a clue where it is coming from at all.
But other than that its doing well for a 1987,.9 model. Bit slow, but I'm still learning to drive so I can't complain.
If anyone has any ideas about the leak in the boot, please tell me!
